Where should an 11 year old shave her legs? She likes the living room on a towel. I say, her shower!?

I'm a single dad. My daughter just started shaving. She is not using a razor. I bought her the mild Nair with a bladless razor. My sister lives nearby and helped with her first time. She claims that her mother (who she doesn't see anymore) shaves on a towel in the living room.

The Bathroom would be the best place for Lot's of reasons, Nair will eventually eat through the towels then eventually your carpet, if she keeps it up. Towels can be expencive to replace and it's not a good idea to use nair even just sitting on one, small chunks will fall and eat through that towel, she has to rinse her legs when she is done, so she will be dragging all that stuff back into the bathroom anyways. I have a small foot stool with rubber stoppers on the legs in my bathroom I set it in the tub and sit on that... because she has to wait 5-7 minute you might want to consider buying a bathroom radio. It passes the time a little quicker than just sitting in silence for 5-7 minutes. Good Luck!

Those depilitory creams are fine to use anywhere. Discretion would suggest she do it in her room, if she has to wait the 10 minutes for the hair to disolve. I must warn that those products, regardless of how gentl they claim to be can cause terrible chemical burns if someone loses track of the time. I have done it...and it looks and feels like someone spilled scalding coffee all over your legs. A real razor...while perhaps getting nicked every now and then...is much safer. Having an 11 year old girl myself...I'd give her a Venus 3 before I let her mess around with chemicals on her own. Good luck, Dad!

I would never shave a child's legs. Nor use a chemical burning agent on that precious skin. Depending on your ethnicity, that can ruin/destroy her skin and hair. Not joking here!

If mom is so concerned take her to be waxed, its safer and much more effective for a child so young. Its once every couple of months. It will actually reduce the actual hair growth, unlike anything else, expect lasers. IT is the best thing for any ones hair issues and most of all a "minor" in the care of a responsible person.

Razors are not acceptable for any reasons, the 1/8 inch scar on my leg the length of my shin is reason enough for me to be so passionate about that. I was 15 at that time!

All personal hygiene needs to be done in or around a water sources, the bathroom is best.

some things need to be done in private, and if she wants to sit on a floor on a towel then she could always do it in the bedroom, or the bathroom. There are just some girly routines that should be done behind closed doors, but she is still quite young (I was not allowed to shave my legs til I was 15) so I guess she will get more private as she gets older.

Should she be shaving her legs at age 11?. I think not , but even so , shaving is a private thing , so in the shower, sounds like she is just testing the boundries here to see what you let her get away with , put a stop to it before she finds more limits to push.

Thats a bad habit she needs to learn how to do it in the shower.When she gets older she will need to do it in the shower in order to save on time.Also the shower water makes the skin softer and easier to shave.I always shave when the conditioner is in my hair it gives my conditioner more time to work .Maybey if she thinks about the benifits of that she will change her mind.Another thing is your eleven year old girl she is being normal every litlle girl likes to copy there mothers .Try to do it in a way that doesnt put competion on mom. Wow, Dad, Things sure have changed since I was a young girl, I didn't know that eleven years old even had hair on their legs...or should care about shaving them, what ever happened to the Barbie Dolls?
Regardless, ask her to go into the bathroom, that is more appropriate than the living room.

I'm sure this is done because she's afraid she might miss what's on TV, etc? Regardless, tell her if she wants to shave, do it like a young woman in the restroom. If she wants to sit in the livingroom, you do 'living room' things like read and visit.
