Does anyone know of a good website showing how many words total or how many words in a sentence a three (well almost three) year old showing be saying? I'm having a hard time finding this information online. Thank you!

I forgot to mention, I'm not worried about my son's verbal skills, I think he's talking way above and beyond his age. Last week I was counting his words in a sentence and he was up to (correctly grammer) 8 word sentences. I just want to know if this is normal or not.

I don't know where to find the information on-line, but the daycare my son goes to provides a developmental checklist for verbal skills as well as gross & fine motor skills. On this checklist it says that by age three, a child should use intelligible words 80% of the time, use an expressive vocabulary of 300-1000 words, can repeat a 5 word sentence, and can verbalize three prepositions. I hope this helps!

I do not know any good verbal skills but my baby sister just turned 2 years old, she is sort of advanced for her age. However, she is counting to 3 or four, she knows her alphabet up to the letter "e" and she speaks for the most part in sentences, not long drawn out sentences but like, "I want cookie", or "Too tight"(in reference to shoes) or " I want mommy/daddy" or "Where watch/cookie/mommy" so your three year old should in my opinion be able to say these phrases or many more

I remember reading it somewhere but not on the Internet. It was in a growth and development book. Still you have to be cautious about the the information. Some really smart kids don't talk all that much and boys may have fewer verbal skills.

I don't know of any website, but you could always contact your local public school district and ask the speech therapist if there are any. They would also be able to help you determine if your child is lagging in skills and be able to start an early intervention program if it is necessary. Just remember, every child develops at a different pace so what is normal for one is not normal for all.

My son is 3 1/2 and when his third birthday was coming he could speak in complete sentances and carry conversations with anybody. He could also count to 20, he knew his whole alphabet, colors shapes, simple addition and subtraction, things like that. Just to give you an idea.

Probably not normal but shows that you are doing a GREAT job. My son is 5. He had a wonderful vocabulary at 2. I was always joking... "why do I have a chatterbox?" That is bc I am one too... and I talk to my son endlessly. It shows your son is not lacking a good parent!!! GOOD JOB MOM!

IDK, but my child was speaking in full sentences and using the language correctly by 3.

Make sure you speak to your child using correct language and a in a way that requires your child to answer or respond. Also, repeat what your child has said using the correct version i.e. "me want cookie" repeat "you want a cookie?", then say "I want a cookie, too".

Anything that doesn't worry you is normal.
