Prayer works by faith. Just because you pray hard and long for something doesnt mean you have any faith behind it. In fact, most of the time that you toil in prayer for something its out of fear that it wont happen, and fear is the opposite of faith.
And thats not true about only getting what you need, the bible doesnt say that anywhere. In fact is says in many places that God longs to give us the desires of our hearts, and that so long as you pray in faith acordnig to his word you will recieve what you asked for. Its worked many times in my life, ive prayed for stuff i surely dont need, but God blessed me with it anyway.

Prayer is a funny thing. I have always been one of those people who felt like my five minute short prayers were just as passionate and effective as the person who prayed for an hour. I think it depends on each person, as well as what you are praying for. I don't think there is such thing as praying wrong or too much, but if you want a formula for prayer, check out the Lords Prayer. You don't neccesarily need to quote it word for word, but use it more as an outline for how you should pray. Don't ever stop praying, or give up. If you read farther into the Lords Prayer passage Jesus tells us to keep praying, and eventually our prayers will be answered in some way.

If you are praying for something that is nonsence, then God will not give it to you, He gives us good things, You say that you are young in the Lord. Many thinks that a person has to get down & sceam to God for something, NO, just a simple Prayer, Yes sometimes we may have to pray for a long time, Praying is our works, But without Faith our works is nothing. I pray for my childrens salvation & have been for over 30 yrs. I have not given up hope on them. When things is out of our hands, all we can do is commit that prayer to God. Just praying will not cause it to happen, Use a little Faith with your prayer & then say Lord your will be done.

Depends on your motive. God knows your heart. Ever watched "Bruce Almighty" ? Good scene at the end of the movie concerning our motives for prayer.
I had an alcoholic Mother growing up. I prayed for years as a teenager for this to change, but I was really praying for me and not for her. I wanted the change to make MY life easier.
It wasn't until I was an adult that I got the healing I needed and was able to see my Mom as just another human being with problems who just did everything the best she could. Then I was able to forgive her and then start praying for HER.
Within a year, without a word to anyone, she just quit drinking and hasn't started since. About 5 or 6 years now.

Garth Brooks sings a song called "answered prayer." It's about a boy in school who fell in love with a girl and prayed that God would bring them together. It didn't happen. Then a few years down the road, he went to a class Reunion, and when he saw what the girl looked like now, his words were, "thank God for unanswered prayer."

you say you are new to religion , does that mean you became a christian? there is no such things as praying too long. GOD answers in HIS time. not everything is granted HE is not a genie, HE the all knowing GOD. HE said first seek HIM then things will be added to you. the best prayer we can pray is the prayer for lost souls. sad but to many prayers are giveme prayers. and prayer isn't just about asking it is also praising HIM.

It's not a matter of how hard you pray. It's about your faith. If you pray believing that God will do it through Jesus then it is all ready done! Speaking it out of your mouth is just an outward show of your inward faith. Know that God said in His word that he will supply All your Needs according to His riches and glory. he cannot lie. When you pray remind Him of His word and He will move on your behalf at the right time. he knows what you need before you even ask. He also knows when you need it. Stand on the Word and you will see miracles. Just believe!

Well, the prayers that are not answered, I believe this is because you are not getting the answer you want. God's ways are not our ways. So, when we pray, we should have the attitude that we want His will to be done. There are many things that are definitely God's will for us, and when we pray we can expect them. But there are also things people pray for that may not be God's will, or just not His timing yet.
I hope this helps.

Sometimes the things we pray for not necessary what we need or not beneficial (unknown) to us. When pray God in His infinite wisdom replaces them with some things that we feel we dont need but beneficial to us. Dont cease praying God knows better.

there are three ways Prayers are answered " yes " " no " " wait awhile ". none of us ever get everything we Pray for as what we think we want and need may be totally wrong for us. THE DEITY have THEIR PLANS for all of us and we never know what THEY have planned. be patient and wait to see what THEY have planned for you as it may be better than you think.
