Without a doubt. They have cost labour mine!! Why because I have to travel to London regularly for work and I have lost faith in a system that brings its people out on industrial action for some very trivial causes. The disputes coincide generally with an event ( world cup) or at the beginning or end of a bank holiday. When the leader of a union is on holiday at the same time as a planned strike day all that underlines is the contempt for the working man not in that particular union. This has come about since labour has come to power and allowed history to start repeating itself. Modern labour party Old mistakes - shame they had convinced me- but no more.

Who pays attention to trade unions these days other than the Labour Party treasurer?

No, the unions were weakened by the Thatcher government and have never recovered. Teflon - admired Thatcher - he said so. he adopted her presidential style of leadership, without the handbag; and left the anti union legislation in place. He also weakened the unions taking away their block votes to get more power for himself.
The unions were a waste of space anyway. the economy is now more efficient without the strikes. It has modernised and moved manufacturing out of the UK. We have embraced technology to a certain extent. That machine that picks the Lotto balls was a wonderful piece of engineering.... lol
