Because the vibrations emitted every time that word is cast out will affect the condition of the owner of the name. It either adds a powerful life affirming vibration or it is a tool of destruction to the owner just by speaking it with intention behind your word.
Even the ancients knew this and they used words to seal requests to stop enemies, to instill fear etc. The sequence of letters and the pronunciation of the word create the "SPELLING" (Spell...get it?) Open a bible. What's the very first sentence?
"IN THE BEGINNING THERE WAS THE WORD."
Everything begins with SOUND.
All sound has an effect. Battle horns, voices raised in song. Some religions never speak the "true" name of the Creator.
Amen- seals a request to the Creator. Ho- ends a telling of something important for some Native Americans as if they had said, "And so it is." Geronimo!-became a war cry for white men who wanted to carry with them the powerful warrior spirit of the great Geronimo. You get my point. Sound can build or break down. Broken windows, ear drums, percussion bombs, speakers at concerts, cleaning jewelry and surgical instruments. It cleans, it kills it does affect all matter of things
How do you feel when someone says your name and the intention behind it is love, friendship, romance or joy?
How do you feel when someone says your name and the intention behind it is humiliation, anger, disgust or loathing?
Each one of those castings out of your name hit the mark it intended. Be VERY careful when you name a child to listen carefully to your own intuition. Ask the baby what it's name is and just be there to receive it.
My given name is Maria. I know it was supposed to be Mirror but my parents couldn't understand that. Interestingly, they almost immediately began to call me Mimi. A mirrored name. The energy of my life is to see my self in others (mi) and others to see themselves in me (mi).
Give a child it's real name and you give it the key to do what it came here to do.

So St. Peter can look you up on the List of Names when you apply for entrance through the Golden Gate. Last names don't count because marriages steals half of the last names as it is. And then there is infidelity. Your last name will be a number: i.e. Dawn-42

I think we see a first name or being on a 'first name basis' with another person important because it makes us feel closer to that person, like we know them in a way that perhaps others do not.
For example if you were my boss and everyone else who worked for you called you 'Mr. Darwin' but I was on a first name basis with you and called you 'Jim' I would feel a more personal connection with you among my other co-workers.

Names carry an image with them. What comes to mind when you think of Brandy? Elizabeth? Brenda? Heather? Dianne? Marilyn? Dave? Terrance? Rocky? Kenneth? Theodore? Yup all different images, some flattering, some not.

I didn't think my name was important and wanted to use my middle name when I was a teen. But, my parents always introduced me as my normal first name, and ruined my plans to try to change it. So, I got used to it and I like it now. I find it to be a turn on when a man says my name when talking to me. I have read that it's common to feel that way. It shows that he is into you enough to not only know your name, but say it to you and make sure he has your attention. Very sexy subtle move, FYI

It identifies the person which in turn relates to reputation. Lets think of a few....Judas....John....Paul...Stephen..
In relation to the Bible...Yahweh. it has great importance as it relates to loyalty as well. If you yell HEY YOU !!
OR Hey John...
The password is not Jesus alone.......... . Does Jesus know our name would be critical to life. The way to know this is if he confess to know us before the Father

People get perceptions about first names alone. Just hearing one will make you imagine the person to be a certain way, which may or may not be true.

Since our parents give it to us, usually that means it's a name that's special to them in some way. Since it is our name, it becomes molded to our personality, like a wetsuit or a leotard, it just becomes part of who we are, so that sometimes when people say our names, they automatically think of us and all of our quirks.
