If you go to www.google.com/trends you find cities in the US which have high numbers of people searching for Jesus also tend to have high numbers of people searching for Pornography. Salt Lake City leads both caegories. Does anyone have an explanation of why this should be?

I am just asking why people think these searches corrollate. I am not saying there is anything wrong with either christianity or pornography. If people think it is the non-christians that are doing the searches then explain why non-christians who live in cities with more christians like porn more than non-christians who don't live in cities with large numbers of christians.

Note I am not stating any reason why this is so. I am just asking why their might be a corrolation.

NewCatholic -- so far you are the only Christian who has attempted to explain the corrolation. Everyone else just denied that it might be the case. The others should try to explain why google would lie.

When something is outright forbidden, it becomes far more attractive. The stricter the rules about something like pornography (which doesn't really harm anyone, assuming it isn't child pornography or something illegal like that) the more likely it is that people are going to be drawn to it.

I doubt that it is just Christians looking up pornography, but a lot of Christians do seem to have real problems with pornography addiction, more so that non-Christians do. Perhaps because Christians are more likely to consider it to be wrong for them to be looking at pictures of naked people than non-Christians?

If the people that are searching for Jesus are also searching for pornography they can only have one. they will have to make a decision. Justbecause there are high numbers of both looking for different things doesn't mean that is those looking for Jesus that are looking for the other. As far as to why Salt Lake City leads in both maybe it is because it is a confused place. We are not to judge others only their actions so we can determine if we want to be associated with them.God is the only true judge. Amen

Just because there is a high number of Christians in the area, does not mean that Christians are the majority using pornography. If you had a stat of how many Christians were actually using pornography, then you would have undeniable evidence. But right now all you have is numbers. It doesn't state how many Christians are actually using porn.

You are assuming that the same people who go to Church are the very ones that are searching for Porn.

That might be a bad assumption.

Even in cities like SLC, there are Many non-Christians, but much fewer porn stores and bars. The non-Christians that are into that are much more likely to search for porn elsewhere because it is not as available.

Not that all Christians are perfect! We are all human, and humans do fall and sin.

Just be careful when making assumptions.

Peace!

Just because they call their self Christians, doesn`t mean they are true Christians, their are a lot of people that claim to be things, but the truth is they really don`t have the true spirit of a christian, they hav decieved their self, they pretend they are saved because they are more worried about what man thinks of them then what God thinks of them, they go to church, and the fellowship with their neighbors, but in secret they live like the devil, but someone who truly lives for God, they are not worried about what man thinks, they know God sees everything they do, and they live their life as God fearing humans, not man pleasers.

you have a large number seeking JESUS and a large number seeking porn, what makes you think it is the christians. sounds like you are talking about two different groups. and sad to say there are people who call themselves christians looking at porn. not everyone who calls themselves christian is a christian. and yes christians sin , we fall but we do get back up repent and change our ways. a christian is a sinner saved by GRACE. in heaven there will be no sin.

You are putting out false proselytism. Slc,Utah is full of mormons. These mormons are not christians nor are they a religion but a cult. Next time submit a source to present ur claims.

salt lake city isn't know for christianity.. it's know for mormons and polygamists. and just because they're searching for Jesus doesn't mean they're Christians. a Christian wouldn't search for Jesus on the internet... they'd be at church. however, a sinner would most likely be looking at pornography and yet want to find more info on God without having to go to church.

Are the same people doing both(link). I hear your bias toward Christians but fail to see your proof that it is Christians looking at the porn.

Stop hating and get a brain.

I think since I have a healthy output for my sexuality, I am not inclined to be drawn to porn. For me its like looking at plastic fruit when you are hungry.

Some cultures just are repressed and do what normal people do, only try to keep it a secret. Christians are not really more moral then anyone else, they just keep their desires a secret.
