Actions speak louder than words. Send her flowers one day, buy her a trip to a Day Spa to pamper herself. Keep pictures of her in your wallet. Take her dancing. If after making this effort she still is down on herself, then its on her. She has the self esteem issue that not even you can fix. That comes from within. You can only do so much and then she becomes your chore not your girlfriend.

Watch Kate an Lopold and Study Leopold's behavior toward Kate. Make her feel like a lady. When she asks why you are doing it (and she undoubdetly will) tell her that that a gentleman ALWAYS behaves this way towards the lady he loves. whatever you do, BE CONSISTENT! morning, noon and night! Never for a second give up!!!!!!! Read a book on ettiquette for gentlemen. Check it out of the library. You are doing a great job at building up her self esteem. Compliment whatever she does for you. If she cooks for you, even if it's the most godawful thing you ever ate, just swallow it. Buddy, I know it's gonna be hard, but sometimes you have to help her out. if she decides she wants to go out instead of eating her cooking mess, then go out and be thankful. Just don't give up on her. Somebody TOLD her way back when that she was ugly and fat and she BELIVED it. it was somebody she cared about that did this to her but she will come out of it if you keep up with this and she will be a better person if you keep working with her. It sounds like you decided the work is worth the rewards and that's a good thing!

People have been saying for years that verbal abuse is telling someone that they're lazy or stupid or ugly enough times that they believe it.
Use the same tactic with a different goal. Start calling her beautiful or hot or sexy. Greet her with a "Heya beautiful" whenever you meet. Introduce her as "my sexy girl..." etc. Eventually she'll start to believe it.

She needs to know that she is feeding her mind with things that she will find impossible to rectify in the long run. Tell her that you really think she is pretty, without her asking or pulling herself down. Then tell her that it's sad that she feels bad about herself and it makes you unhappy. Tell her that you would have no choice but to agree with her the next time she says she's ugly because you are clearly not able to convince her.

Just keep reaasuring her how beautiful you think she is, Obviously she has no self esteem..but for what reason you dont know. Keep showing her how much you love her,,and telling her..thats all you can really do until she helps herself with the way shes feeling about herself.

Sometime women do that to get reassurance that the are beautiful. They like that attention. I would not argue about it and just keep commenting how beautiful she is.
