REALLY how reliable are the hyundai tuscon's and how is the gas mileage of the gls model. i was thinking of buying one based upon the warranty alone but i am concerned about the gas milage with the 4wd model. it's listed at 19-24 mpg but who knows what people get. i generally do not drive faster than the speed limit and have kept up with the maintenence on prior vehicles to the point of being anal.

any advice or suggestions are greatly appriciated. if you own one that's even better advice

thanx

I haven't driven the tucson, but I have driven the other new Hyundai's. If the Tucson followes those standards, it'll be a great car.
MPG's are usually calculated based on averages, with all seats full. You'll probably average around 22. manufacturers ratings are pretty accurate nowadays. Of course you'll do better if you spend the most time on freeways.

well, it IS a Hyundai. Any car that is that cheap would worry me. I would just go with a Ford or Chevy. Gas mileage really only varies a few miles w/most suv's, so is the risk of buying a crappy foreign car worth the minimal amout you MIGHT save on gas?

i drive for reliability mileage doesn't matter when your broke down on the side of the road

think about this great mileage = no power
great power = no mileage
as we want power and mileage you get unreliable car
its best to buy what you want as far as performance and feed the oil man
