Ok skin conditions are always an indication of either stress, allergy or if unfortunate you are born with it. What you need to do is carry on with the creams the doc prescribed, get yourself a bath lotion like oilatum or similar, and bath twice a day in that.
Look at what triggers it and try avoiding it if u can. Normally things like soap powders and certain food substances can make it worse. Stress has got to be the most common trigger in older people. try relaxing once in a while

A natural remedy you can try to cure your psoriasis is described here: http://psoriasis.toptips.org
Seeking relief from psoriasis can be a lifelong quest. You can search everywhere for the perfect cure and never quite find it. There are plenty of medications, creams, pastes, gels, and lotions out there, but they don’t always work and they can be pricy. It gets time consuming and expensive to dab a lotion all over the body two to three times a day or take a pill every day. Most people just want something that is quick, simple, cheap, and works.
There are actually some things you can start doing for yourself that might help with psoriasis and slow down the onset of another outbreak. Things you can change around the house or personally, that don’t cost you an extra cent.
As I said above a good site where you can find many interesting tips is: http://psoriasis.toptips.org

I had a 13 year history of psoriasis, though I was in good health otherwise. But these severe large, thick and scaly excoriated plaques on my neck, ears, trunk and limbs ruined the way I was leading my life. I would be with red, inflamed itchy skin for most part of the year and these silvery scales would seem to be erupting without any reason. To make matters worse, blisters would appear over already red and itching skin. It was living hell.
I was treated with various options but nothing seemed to be working. Some of the treatments that I underwent in this depressing period of 13 years included tar preparation, tropical steroids and anthralin. I was also given light therapy many times but everything I tried would give me temporary relief.
And soon, after a few days I would be plagued with the situation again. In one of those moments when I was completely lost I stumbled upon this website just by chance. I read it and felt that as if someone had put the story my life on this web page. I was thoroughly convinced that if ANYONE can cure me of condition, it would be you.
And was I right, or what. I started recovering within 3 days of starting this treatment. Something that had become a painful part of me for 13 years was actually getting healed! My ears are healed and my neck is smooth again!. I am a month into the treatment and I have never felt better in my life!

I was diagnosed with psoriasis at age 14 and now I am 36 years old. You can say that I have tried just about every medicine both approved by FDA and trial without much success. Examples include Enbrel, Humira, oral meds, creams, oils, salts, coal tar, etc and the list is much more extensive that I can't even remember all of the names. But recently after someone shared this video https://tr.im/TreatmentPsoriasis2015n8dX everything has changed. My psoriasis completely cleared by putting these changes in place. I only wish I'd taken photos of before and after because it truly has been miraculous. I am getting married in Oct, 2015 and I am wearing a strapless gown that also shows my back and I am confident (not like before) that my skin will be soft and pretty vs red and flakey.

I have had psoriasis for 40 years, since being a child and it has varied from chronic to mild and every shade of the spectrum!
It varies largely in individuals and its been my experience to find what works for you rather than copy other peoples treatments. Keep in touch with your doctor and if it gets really bad ask to be referred to a specialist.
I have got to the stage where I control my psoriasis, NOT the other way round! I largely ignore it and get on with my life.
Remember this: worrying about it will simply make it worse, learn to ignore it. I found (but as I said earlier, this worked for me only) that becoming a vegetarian helped tremendously and recently when I started to diet, I was quite overweight, my psoriasis almost vanished!
Good luck and keep your chin up!

lots of refined sugar in your diet can make it worse. if you add spoonfuls of sugar to your tea and cereal try cutting it out completely. if that doesnt work then vitamin d is usually helpful too so try and get some sunshine......... or a better bet would be some supplements.
as you probably know psoriasis is not hereditary and is usually stress induced. unfortunately there's not a lot you can do about stress apart from change your lifestyle so if it bothers you that much it may pay to take a long holiday.
hope it clears up

My husband suffers from psoriasis he has the usual creams, but he also uses Capasal its a shampoo but his GP said he could use it as a body wash, it smells of coal tar, but he finds it does help. Also try the usual keep to mild non perfumed soap washing powders etc. Have a word with your local herbalist they can be a great help. At night try wearing a pair of cotton gloves at bedtime this will help when you are scratching

I cannot say how to clear it up, but avoid eating all dairy products including chocolate for a while and see how it goes.
I empathise with you..but my experience has shown that nothing will clear it up. I put Aqueous Cream BP on my skin and it does help to contain the itchiness (Boots own very cheap).
Also if you take a shower try and use a two in one shampoo instead of separate shampoo and conditioner.
I hope that your condition improves for you. All the best xx

hi, i had psoriasis for 5 years on my shins. i used betnovate for about 3 years, tried aloe vera, nettle tea, uv lamps, acupunture, chinese herbs.
out of all these type of treatments, i found that aloe vera and the uv lamps made it better for a few months, but it came back again. I started acupunture and herbs about 10 weeks ago and it has completely cleared. my recommendation is maybe try and find a chinese medicine practioner (if you've given everything else a try)/
