It's useful to know that people are naturally born with two fears: the fear of falling and the fear of loud noises. That is why people don't like it when others shout at them.

Before going on with an answer, I first have two questions for you. Why do you shout at people? Do you like it when they shout at you?

Once I read this article that when two people are in love they speak in whispers because their hearts are close to each other and it doesn't take much volume, or even words, to communicate. But when two people are fighting they shout at each other because their hearts are far away from each other.

Also, you might like to consider that people are much more interested in having you listen to them than to hear what you have to say about things. I'm not saying this to be offensive, but you really become a much more likeable person when you make it a habit to hold in what you wish to say and first really absorb the meaning the other person hopes you can grasp. But the point is not to be conforming to others--the point is, when you learn to do this, you will like yourself and others even more and be a happier person.

And no, there is never, ever an excuse to shout.

Shout only when warning someone is necessary, shouting or raising your voice during an arguement is a classic sign that you are loosing it, the quieter person retains the dignity, the moral high ground, and more often than note the pleasure of being in the right, the person who shouts, is unable to express their views in an articulate manner and invariably is in the wrong, but thinks they can win by drowning the other persons views.... so next time you are tempted to shout, ask you self first, am I in the right, and do I want to loose control of the situation?

In myexperiences I have found that there is an excuse for just about everything... what you should ask yourself is if you have a good reason....
I personally always liked the saying "speak softly and carry a big stick" but if you feel that you get your point across better by shouting then do what you feel is the best way for you to feel heard...

I agree with above answerer...

There are times when you need to shout, like the traffic example he gave, or I think if you slam your hand in a door you could get away with shouting - or if you are trying to talk to a buddy in a concert or club.

As a means of communication though, shouting gets you nowhere at all, it normally provokes a negative response from the person you are shouting at and in the long run will make things harder for you.

It's okay to shout if you're at a ball game or you attend a pentecostal church. Shouting all the time is impolite and shows lack of self-control. Try to be more patient and not blow your top so easily.

i do not both. it type of feels that cutting-edge Democratic protests look more desirable civil and non-offensive. i actually see people from all races there and persons of diverse sexual orientations. Is it basically me or does the Tea social gathering and Republican protesters surely comprise White people? possibly they're very few undesirable apples yet then why does this in no way ensue at a Democratic protest? possibly we'd want to continuously well known there's a racist wing contained in the Republican social gathering. yet I do well known that maximum Republicans are not from now on area of the racist wing.

If someone is in immediate danget and shouting is the only way you can get their attention...

Yes, there is. For example, if you see someone about to step out in front of traffic, you should shout at them to watch out.

Not when you are close to the person you are shouting at. Have you had your hearing checked?

When people cannot hear you (i.e, calling out to someone in a concert).
And occasionally when you're pretty upset.

If you find yourself being upset more often than "once in a long while" then you probably are just ill-tempered.
