I phoned the benefits office with this question about a year ago when I decided to be a full time Mum. Virtually nothing! I can get Child tax credit. My husband earns too much for us to get working tax credit as well. I can't claim unemployment, job seekers etc as my husband works and we are still together. Can't even get help with community charge because I was made redundant so have more savings than the limit for help there. I does depend on how much your partner earns so it is worth asking the question - I hope you have better luck than me!!

Cohabiting couples are treated as married but in case you have 2 years stable working that you can observe for JSA (i'm assuming you are in UK) I doubt if you'll get any housing advantage although for the reason that your associate/ex will must care for the rent and council tax and so forth., You most commonly will simply get the flat cost which is round £65 or so every week, whilst you are nonetheless living together the council should not worried when you like each and every other or if you're nonetheless having sex. The truth that you're sharing a house method you're a couple. Satisfactory of luck, and bear in mind if you go away voluntarily you would get sanctioned and have your improvement stopped for as much as 6 months. Individually i'd go for mat depart and meanwhile talk to your advantages company. High-quality of good fortune and ask about DSS rented residences too.
