Since we know Hillary wants to be president, but could never get the votes. How likely is it that they do it this way?
Al Gore with Hillary as VP wins the 2008 presidential election and after a year or so Gore steps down for "Health Reasons." This makes Hillary the new president and the first woman president and she CAN CIRCUMVENT THE ELECTORAL PROCESS that she knows she could not othrwise successfully overcome.
How plausible is this?

To the Bill Gates Person-
You honestly think Bill Gates would back Hillary after what the Department of Justice tried to do to Microsoft under the Clinton Admin?
And the governor and legislature of a state affect how trial lawyers would vote much more than the president would, as they set whether or not a state has "no fault" tort laws.

Additionally, there are no FACTS in politics, remember GORE could run and fund his own election since he has literally hundreds of millions from owning stock in Google, BP, Apple, and others. Not to mention the coverage he's been getting for his global warming campaign.
As for Republican track record of failure, I think thats in the eye of the beholder, to attempt to make any actions universal to the party results in flawed results.
I actually hope Hillary runs, because I want to watch her lose to John McCain.

Al Gore will not run again, that is fact. Hillary could very well win. We all know it's about Money. Republicans have ten times the of the Democrats to fund the race. The question is. Will Republicans back Hillary? Republicans get the cash from defense contractors and corporations, Democrats get the cash from trial Lawyers and Unions, plus the working class licks in some small amounts of cash. Bill Gates could buy the race easy, he will back Hillary, Oprah also will back Hillary, Republicans are toast no matter how much they spend. Republicans have a problem with being failures on every issue. Hillary is very good at being "FOR" change at election time. Hillary will be on TV "FOR" change in every State.
BTW, are you aware that Bill Clinton could run again?

Not plausable at all. Gore is already a proven loser, he will never get a nomination again. Hillary has a way better chance of getting the Presidential nomination and actually winning an election than Gore ever did. Why would she team up with a loser and then in his shadow? Look for a Clinton/Kerry or Kerry/Clinton ticket.

Last things first, I do think McCain would be a competent president. He would certainly do better then Bush. I still do not think that Hillary will be nominated. I could be wrong, but in the past 39 years (I was not paying attention to politics until I was 10) I've yet to see the early "front runner" be nominated. I suspect it will be Edwards who will take the Democratic Nomination, but that is a WAG (wild *** guess). I also think Giuliani could be President if he want to run.

In the unlikely event it did happen the way you outline, Hillary would only "act" as President until both houses of Congress called for a special election, after which she'd be out.

Like I suggested on yet another question, if she receives the nomination in 2016, then all the GOP has to do it run a 30 2d advert, at the same time with her voice declaring "What massive difference, at this aspect, does it make" over video clips of J. Christopher Stevens being dragged from the U. S. embassy with the well known human being Spangled Banner taking area in gently contained in the heritage.
