but actually you shouldnt say that, as it is considered to be bad luck to say it.
the commonly used phrase is
"in bocca al lupo" (in the mouth of the wolf)
and the other person has to answer
"crepi il lupo" (let's hope the wolf is gonna die)
otherwise, if he answers "thanks" or else, or nothing, it would be bad luck again!!
