has anyone had lap band surgery, will my insurance cover it?

I have not had lap band surgery, however, I do work for an insurance company and I can tell you that most do not cover it. If you can't afford lapband surgery then you might consider The Cambridge Diet. It was developed by a team of researchers at Cambridge University in Britain in the 1970's for their morbidly obese patients with medical issues such as high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. Following the diet produces the results of gastric bypass but, obviously, for a fraction of the cost and without the surgery. I was 60 lbs overweight when I started and am now a size 10 and almost at my ideal weight! Many people who use the diet, however, have 100 lbs or more to lose. If you're looking for a private policy, you'd better start doing research on plans available in your state... Not all insurance companies offer coverage in all states. Not all plans offer the same benefits. Most insurance companies cover lap band in one way or another, its finding a plan that you qualify for that is difficult. I don't really have additional info without knowing what state you live in.
