I would like to examine the religion as well as the people. If I laid down the rules that I am only there to learn the religion, and observe traditions would they let do so? I would preferably just sit in the back and learn as much as I could. I would not wish to join the religion. I would not be vocal about my beliefs, nor would I want to debate them. I would also not partake of their traditions or worship.

NewCatholic,

I have looked at Mormons, Catholics, Christians.. I am not really interested in believing in a God. I am more interested in why people believe in something I find to be delusional.

you can go to any mosque you please. You don't have to partake in anything, you don't need to justify anything. If you are asked a question, tell them the truth and they will understand. Just don't get into a debate about. Say you are there to observe. If you wish to debate, look for some one intelligent to talk to. Try and go there in the evening.. after dusk prayer, that's when most discussions would take place and people are more accomodating... since they've finished work, are more relaxed etc.

well, Muslims are going to greet u in Mosques with open arms, even open hearts. u can go there and observe, and keep ur feelings of 'delusion' to urself unless u want to experience the beheading lolzzz ........ but seriously, one person's 'delusion' is another person's Beliefs, its all relative. so, as human being u have to respect that. what u don't understand, u have No right to insult it. keep ur feelings of pre-conceived notions to urself, and go there with an open mind, and experience the environment, talk to Muslims in the Mosque as well, abt their beliefs (just don't insult them with ur ignorance), and try to comprehend why do they believe? what effects does it cause on their life? get to know the ppl, believe me almost all Muslims are Peace-Loving. there are very few extremists, but they are less than 1 in a 1000 (and sadly, those are what the media portrays only), so don't be afraid of them. Islam is a very open religion and everyone is invited Islam, u can research abt Islamic Practices or u can quitely observe them, Muslims won't mind at all.
u r more than welcome to join in our Mosques. Peace to All.

Islam is a very open religion. You will be allowed to observe the prayer if you you tell them that you are here only to observe. There will be no pressure on you to convert because there is no compulsion in religion. Just be honest and respectful and you will have access to the mosque. You have God given free will not to believe in Him.

Here is the verse you should quote if they try to convert you.

10:99 If it had been thy Lord's will, they would all have believed,- all who are on earth! wilt thou then compel mankind, against their will, to believe!
Qur'an

Also quote the following verse.

2:256 Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things. Qur'an.

Well, muslims are ordered in the holy quran to spread their religion, and they would be very happy to have you there and listen to what they have to say.
