Depending upon which state you live in, you will have different requirements. For example, Alabama requires you to pull out of public school and then enroll in a "Church school". This school is where you will send all of your progress reports. Your school may ask you to send in a standardized test score or something like that. If you'd like to see a good homeschool help site go to the links below.

Oh and yes there are online highschool programs. I just don't know the links. You might want to search for "Switched on Schoolhouse"

Check out the HSLDA website to see what is required in your state to homeschool (some states, you just have to withdrawal your child, others, you have to submit lesson plans, etc.) Homeschooling is legal in all states but the requirements differ.

Yes, there are several on-line high school programs. A few that I've heard of (but never used) are: Penn Foster, Robinson, and American School. Switched-On Schoolhouse from Alpha Omega is a computer-based (not on-line) program on CD-ROM.

Check into resources for mateiral that you are going to teach your student. I don't if they are still in business but check into Oak Medows.
They provide the materails that the students should be learning. The package comes with textbooks and chapter books for the student to read for literature class. It probably comes with ways to present the materail .
I don't know if there is a high school online . There was this program that kids were using at my high school but I don't know if it's an online thing .

there are so many curriculums out there. there are christian based, jewish based, non religion based lessons. the point is to find out what your child is suppose to be learning at his grade level and just teach him that. it's as simple as that. if you want to contact me personally to let me know the specifics of your child's education background i can make some recommendations. but to answer your question the transition is smooth and no i don't know of online high school. but there are video homeschools out there. GOOD LUCK. (also i have a group for homeschooler you can join. trying to get it 'going'. and you don't have to be a christian to join ;)
