There was a movie out once entitled "Run, Lola, Run" and the soundtrack to that is just amazing when it comes to lifting weights or running on the treadmill. It's upbeat, modern, has a some lyrics here and there. It's just got to be heard. Noone seems to know about it, but it is available on the internet. Check it out! It's really neat!

Some great club songs that will keep you moving are by the group Mynt ("How Did You Know" is a winner) and the singer Ian Van Dahl ("Ace" is a great CD).
Madonna's new album "Confessions on a Dancefloor" are loaded with very upbeat songs such as the best song on the album, "Jump." You cannot slow down (it is not possible) when listening to that one!
Other great songs are "Ecstasy" by ATB, "I Wanna Dance" by Ilona Europa, and the album " Best of Trance" also has great songs for working out.
You can find songs and artists in specific genres that you enjoy on www.pandora.com. Type in the name of an artist or a song that you like, and Pandora will create a personalized radio station for you featuring all kinds of artists, many of whom you have never heard of. It's free, but you have to register. But Pandora never sends you spam or sells out your information. I love it!

If you're into running, you simply MUST try One by One (off of the Lion King sound track). It might sound silly, but its a vocal with a beat that is perfect for keeping time. I've found myself listening to it 4 or 5 times in a 7 mile run.
Oddly enough, other songs off of kids movie sound track make for an excellent eclectic bunch of songs for working out.

I don't listen to music while I work out usually... but when I'm running and I'm trying to keep up a good pace I end up singing "Three Blind Mice" over and over again in my head. I hope that helped you, lol.

Disco is the beat I go for: "Percussion", "Macho Man", etc.
I go for anything fast, and have been known to groove on Emperor's Waltz (Johann Strauss) - it has some slow sections though.
So, I am dating myself. If you enjoy it, and it has a lively beat, it does work.
