Gosh! How can people think there was more than ONE Messiah! Jesus names mean Messiah! Nope, no others...yes, prophets and prophesizers, and still today, but Jesus Christ is the only Messiah (Saviour) that God sent or ever will. Good question!

The word "messish" is a Jewish word and means the annointed one who would lead Isreal into a position of world power. By that reckoning the messiah has not come at all. Jesus' mission was for all peoples throughout the universe , a spiritual messiah whose real message is waiting to be discovered.

Many who claimed to be a messiah. And in a limited sense some such as the Maccabees were.

But, none who fulfilled so many of the prophecies in the Tanakh (the O.T.); none who could be THE Messiah -- except for Jesus of Nazareth, who by many infallible proofs proved Himself to be the Christ (i.e., Messiah, God's Anointed).

None who prophesied His own Death AND RESURRECTION and fulfilled that prophecy.

there is only one- Jesus Christ is it- he was crucified on the cross- resurrected and ascended to heaven. He is seated at the right hand of the Father interceding on our behalf- and he will return for those that have accepted him as Lord and saviour. See John 3:16

I don't think there were too many, actually. And they probably didn't refer to themselves as such. (I'm assuming you mean how many people were, or are, believed to be Messiahs.)
