Oh please again and again Fatwa has nothing to do with 'an order to kill'. Fatwa is simply a religious opinion issued by a trusted Islamic scholar.

He cannot order a fatwa, in the fuller sense of the word, because I'm not sure there are fatwas in Christianity. As for encouraging his flock to kill someone, he can encourage persecution. I'm sure that, with the state of the world today, he probably could encourage killing a certain group and get away with it, legally and without much controversy. However, most people wouldn't listen to him.

If you are talking about papal infallibility, then the Pope telling anyone to sin against God would not be covered by infallibility.

The Catholic Church teaches that the Pope is infallible at closely defined times.

The Pope is only infallible when he, in union with the body of bishops, solemnly teaches that a doctrine as true.

This comes from the words of Jesus to Peter (the first Pope) and the Apostles (the first bishops), "Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven" (Matthew 18:18) and "He who hears you hears me" (Luke 10:16).

At all other times the Pope can be just as sinful as you and me and be in need of forgiveness.

With love in Christ.

Not recently -- and it would not happen today.

However, the Crusades were commissioned by the Pope -- where he encouraged soldiers to take the Holy Land away from Muslims.

Considering the fact that the Pope is the last absolute monarch on earth, and is answerable only to God, he can do pretty much whatever he wants to do.

And as his power comes from God himself, it seems as though he should be able to do it.

All things considered, regardless of your religion or politics, it's probably best to avoid getting the Pope ticked off at you.

That's because, since the Pope is the head of the church on earth, God promised to back up everything he officially "binds or looses".

Remember, the Pope's "boss" is God, and God can certainly "fire" him, any time he chooses.

No to do that he would have to speak the complete opposite of what the gigle teaches and while I have no doubt that there are ppl out there that would listen to him, I doubt the church itself would allow him to remain pope for long if he tried anything like that

No, in Catholicism that responsibility is currently delegated to lower levels, so as to protect the Pope.
