To me evil is not caring about another's feelings, being racist or thinking you are superior.

I don't think most people are comfortable joining in on evil, I think the evil are the minority and not the majority in this world, there have been some horrific things happen in the last 5 years, but the good people of this world have risen above it and not joined in, those who do think it best to venture over to the evil side are just putting themselves in the path of bad karma and for them its a case of what goes around, comes around and they will suffer.

Because the pay is better and the hours shorter.
Seriously, evil is anything that is destructive or detrimental. Something that destroys rather than blesses. And sometimes it is something that on the surface looks real good but really underneath hurts people.
Like lotteries that supposedly donate to charities. The dontaing is good, but the gambling and mostly losing fills people with false hope and steals their blessings from them. Then eventually they become disheartened and defeated.
That is inherantly evil but looks to be good.
And the real reason so many people join evil rather then good is because it is all around us. The world is ruled over by the prince of darkness. The devil. He has dominion and it is his influences that affect the lives of men today.
And because there is so much of it around, people find it easier to go with the flow and fit in then to stand against it and stand out.

Gen.8:21; God knew that it was going to go that way and no sins are hidden in the bible. From the World in Eden down to Jeremiah was to year 3460 Jer.6:24; 7:30,31; 13:10; 16:12; 18:12; 19:2-5; So he wrote Lamentations. It is 606 before Christ and Cyrus is 536, Greece is 336, Maccabees are 164 and Rome is in Judah 62 before Christ. So we know what happened to Christ in year 33 to show the nature of the people. Heb.2:9,14,16; 9:14,15; 1Cor.15:22-28,51-53; He will bring good and make all things new. 2Pet.3:13; Eph.3:21; All will be good in world without end with Jesus.

It is much easier to walk the path of evil than it is of good. If you walk the path of good you always have to ask of yourself if you are doing the right thing. Walking the path of evil does not require you to ask of yourself what your motives are. We are now seeing the me, me, me generation. So much has been given to this generation that they no longer have to struggle to earn most things so end up not appreciating anything. Re: The child that is just given a car by their parents without ever having to earn it. Parents paying hundreds of dollars for clothing for their children just because it carries a certain brand name. Drugs are prevalent as kids are bored with their lives having been instilled with few values. In a lot of cases the parents are at fault for the way they are bringing up their children. It has now become a material world and evil has a tendency to thrive in a material world.
There are still many bright children with values, but society seems to thrive on the ones that lack values sensationalizing them. The media plays a big part in this by reporting all the scandals the stars are involved in instead of concentrating on the ones who use their fame for good. Kids use these people as role models, but the messages they are getting are not good.
This is just a drop in the ocean as to why people tend towards evil instead of good.

Human and apes eat both vegetables and meats ( and fish).
I think it is something with this history inclines us to think everything has two extreme.
Or may be (I read it somewhere) we used to be hunters and become farmers, farmers do (getting up early, working hard everyday to harvest, having democratic leaders, helping each other and including dumbest person in the community etc) may have formed "good" whereas hunters' way (kill animals, eating as much as possible when can and be lazy for the rest of time, get rid of the slow runners & dumb types coz it is liability for the group survival, leaders rotate depending of type of hunting they do etc ) may have formed evil-bad, in our recent thousands of years.
Because we have to justify our recent thousands of years over the period that went before then farmers' way is currently good and hunters' way is the other extreme. So in short no one wish to feel that we are getting worse and have never improved since antient time. However, this may be closer to the truth.

There are evil deeds that can afford you dollars and so people who loves pleasure will always find themselves doing evil. At times others do evil than good because they are chained by the devil to serve him.

People always choose the path of least resistance. It is easier to go with the flow and do as your peers do than to take a stand and disagree with them. To be Godly is so hard to do because when you are doing whats right and making the right decisions you run the risk of your friends making fun of you. I say if they make fun, they are not your friends. If they were, they would understand your desire to do good and would either follow your lead or at least perhaps not do those things that you cannot when you are not around.

To me the root of evil is selfishness - but what we generally consider "evil" is extreme selfishness.
Everyone has sefishness in them, but most of us try to contain it the best we can, and most of us fail often times to do so in ways we can not see.
Basically it's choosing your own interest at the expense of another -- either to a light degree or to extremes.
So, one person might choose to rip another person off for their own financial benifit, and that's evil, but some people take it even further and wil kill other people for their benifit.
Both are evil, but the later group do not contain their selfishness at all.
And, after working in real estate for a year and working with many "average" people, I can tell you that most people do evil regularly - athough perhaps they are not fully aware of their own evil or justify it to themselves.
Sellers lie about the condition of homes for larger profits, other agents wil try to cut you out of commissions and steel customers, and buyers are extremely disloyal to agents that work hard to find the right house for them.. basically it all has roots in extreme selfish interest.

Because in the old days there weren't so many rules to follow. In this day and age where every single thing that you do has rules attached to it, and is more and more heavily policed, I think it gives people the chance to feel a little bit anarchic against the system without being illegal.
From what I see people are more concerned with life's concequences than those that may follow in the afterlife.
