Bought a fruit cake that is a good flavour but rather on the dry side. Is there a satisfactory way to improve it? Did think of feeding it with brandy.

Thanks for all those. I'll try some and see what happens.
Agree about the cuppa. Also good with a nice bit of Wensleydale cheese.

Make a mixture of (for cake up to 500g) 1/2 TS lemon juice(optional),1/2-1 TS sugar and 2 - 3 TS brandy, whysk(e)y or rum,
poke small holes through your cake with a skewer and sprinkle over the top. Leave to soak for a while.
Cheers!

Feeding it with brandy. You might not care if it is a dry cake, it could work. If you were baking a cake, I would recommend to to add some potato flakes, it makes the cake more moist longer because it helps hold the moisture. That probably was not the answer you were looking for.

A light sprinkling of cold black tea. Really! Lots of fruit cakes use tea in the recipe, and yes, it should also be eaten with a lovely (hot!) cuppa as an accompaniment.

Do test this suggestion on yourself first, don't feed it straight to guests!

Cut into serving size pieces and place inside a brown paper bag, sprinkle lightly with water, close bag, and heat in a 250 degree oven about 6 minutes.

If it's already cooked, put it in the microwave with moist papertowels on top and under it. Mike it for about 30 seconds. It should fix the problem.

Prick the top and drizzle orange juice id children are going to eat it, or if for adults brandy, whiskey. Or have it with custard, cream or ice-cream.
