The teachings of Buddha had implied to me that humility is better than pride/ego. I apply this and see how it has made the road smoother. What I want to know is if assuming that I am not entirely sane and questioning my own senses is a form of humility. Or is it self-doubt?

I was just bloging about my thinking on humility:

Here are definitions that works for me.

Poor self image: The inadequate assessment of ones own self worth.

Humility: The accurate assessment of ones own self worth.

Definitely that is self doubt, you are on a path to spiritual enightenment, that is nice to know, but remember humility means you do not recognize an "I" or should I say that you dont let your sense of self overpower you to the extent that you stop realizing that God is everywhere in every thing, in every human being, and for that reason all human beings are equals, but questioning your sanity is too much, you will need all your sanity if you really want enlightenment, its a tough, hard road, but best of luck, from all my heart

A little of both. While Buddha suggests humility, I bet he wouldn't rule out the possibility that you are actually nutty. LOL

Humility? Possibly but not intrinsically - you don't HAVE to be humble to doubt oneself.

Self-doubt is the same.

I would say more humility than self-doubt.

it is neither. it is a sign that you, my friend, are losing your sanity. thats ok though, i'm not entirely sane either, i am glad you choose such a path that will lead to tranquility as your senses have become questionable. myself am afriad of losing anymore sanity as i am quick to temper, and my beliefs do not lead to a smooth road but rather a rough one uphill, but they are my beliefs that i truely believe in.

the Way I see it here is your problem:

28Furthermore, SINCE THEY DID NOT THINK IT WORTHWHILE TO RETAIN THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD, HE GAVE THEM OVER TO A ""DEPRAVED"" MIND, TO DO WHAT OUGHT NOT TO BE DONE. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; Romans 1:28-30

Questioning your own sanity is not a form of humility or self doubt, it is you realizing that something is wrong, and now you know what it is. hope I have helped you

Questioning your sanity is a strong sign of that in itself, your sanity. People who are crazy, or are zealots never questions their sanity, they know they are right.

That is why they are crazy, but you are probably just fine.

No, it's pride/ego to be wrapped up in yourself wondering.
