True believers worshiped God with altar sacrifices for one thing.
It's all in the old testament.
True believers now worship and pray to God through blood of Christ rather than the blood of bulls.

Before organized Christianity people worshiped Gold statutes that represented their idea of several gods, in control of different aspects of life. Like a golden ram to pray for a good harvest, or some other silly crap.
Christians still worship false gods, they just don't realize any other person who you trust more than yourself and have faith in more yourself, is a false god, and probably a false profit.

.Before Christ there were the Jews, Jesus was one. The Jewish religion acknowledges Jesus but consider him to be another prophet like Moses. Various pagan religions (the Greeks and Romans) had multiple gods. Also there were religions in the far east like Buddhism, and the Hindu religion in India. Islam and the Jewish religion were the two major monotheistic religions before Christianity.
I don't claim to be an expert in religion but the way I understand it, Mohamed, and Budah were enlightened ones who started their faiths. Both religions believe in one God and although they pray to Mohamed and Budah they are not the God of their respective religions

Before Jesus instituted Christanity, first century jews where still under the Mosiac Law and worshipped the same God that they worshipped after Christianity and that is Jehovah,Almighty God,creator of all things.
The pagan nations worshipped their idol gods, which they continued to do after Christianity and still do today.

Your question show ignorance of the Christian faith. Christians worship God, the same God that Muslims and Jews worship. The difference is that Christians believe that this same God, so loved the world that he gave his only son so that we might not perish but have eternal life.
