Shortbread is so easy and so tasty
Oven 170 Baking time; 45 mins for 1 cake or 15 mins for fingers
100g (4oz) flour
100g (4oz) butter
50g (2 oz) cornflour
50g (2oz) caster sugar
pinch of salt
Knead dough to smooth ball, gently press and roll it to a round and keep the edges smooth and free of cracks.
Lift the cake carefully on to a swaure of greaseproof paper on the underside of a baking tray to make it easy to slide it off when baked.
Neatly pinch the edge or mark it with a spoon handle and prick the shortbread all over in a pattern.
Bake it until firm and light golden fawn in colour.
