Hi, we're having a week off in October and for the first time in I don't know when we're not going abroad (we're trying to be good and not blow money) so I need some suggestions of things to do (without going on a spending frenzy) that we may not have thought about ourselves! So far we're going to London for the day...any suggestions from the calm to the crazy! We're 24 and live in Derbyshire

Go walking in the Peak District (healthy & cheap).

We did when we could not fly out after 10 August airport problems

Hi there. I live in Penzance, Cornwall. Come here for the weekend! I am Cornish and have lived in and around Penzance all my life and it really it an amazingly beautiful place to be. If I were you i would stay at the Queens Hotel on the Promenade and have a sea view looking out over Mounts bay. If your the outdoor type you could walk over the sea path to St Michael's Mount and look around the castle (only when the tide is right) or you can get a little boat and be rowed over to it. You can even get a boat trip for that matter. Land's end is also not very far and have some nice cliff walks. Anyway when your finished doing that you can pop in to one of the many local pubs and have a pint of cider and sit down and relax and let Cornwall wash over you!The Celts certainly know how to enjoy themselves! If you want a decent meal go to Coco's where they serve absolutely gorgeous food and if you want a good dance try Club 2k as sometimes they have really good acts on. Enjoy you self what ever you do.

If you love the outdoors, breathtaking sea views, great coastal walks, nice meals in a country pub, then go for the island of Anglesey off the North Wales coast.

You can get some good deals on accommodation this time of the year. Stay where Demi Moore and her team filmed parts of her latest film, Half Light.

Even do a day trip to the Irish capital Dublin on the super fast boat from the port of Holyhead on Anglesey. Only takes 99 minutes and you can be sampling the guinness or great cooffee in Grafton Street by 1115 on a Saturday morning.

I'd stay around Derbyshire. The Peak District will be fairly close to you so venture out there if the climate is good. Also visit your local tourist information centre for ideas - they usually have a wealth of information on what's happening in your area.

You could come into London but that may turn out to be expensive. Have you considered north instead - maybe Edinburgh?

Try Whitby, North Yorkshire. It's a beautiful town. There are lots of shops, restaurants, cafes and museums, there is a magnificent harbour and two very impressive piers. Click on the link:

If you want madness, you could do Blackpool for the weekend. It's loud, tacky, not too expensive and should be experienced at least once. The illuminations are on as well and it will be heaving.
