commercial milks are real hard for a baby to digest and the content of proteins is high this can cause the development of allergies in new Born and the immune system of babies still in development so they need some special support that only the mothers milk can give because it contains antibody's . The initial milk produced is often referred to as colostrum, which is high in the immunoglobulin IgA, which coats the gastrointestinal tract. This helps to protect the newborn until its own immune system is functioning properly along with creating a mild laxative effect, expelling meconium and helping to prevent the build up of bilirubin (a contributory factor in jaundice). The mother, I have been hearing for years that mothers that breast feed there babies have a low incidence of breast cancer think about it no studies that i know have confirm this but simple logic tells me that breast feeding serves as a cleansing mechanism for the mammary glands and improving the health of this area .Breast feeding is like a ritual of bonding between mother and babies that can ad a emotional stability factor for both.

HI Shabnam your question is actually of commun interest in all mamalians ,the importanceof breast feeding is focused essentialy for the transmission of colostrum to the baby that containes the maternal antibodies ,but in the other hand psychical aspect is also very important because instanctly babies take better contact with the mammels,i mean the teat sothe intake of milk containing the colostrum is better.DR.MAZDA

It is good for the baby because the first few days of breastfeeding passes lots of antibodies and nutrients to the child(there is a special name for the liquid produced in the first few days after giving birth - cant remember it though!)
