As most people have said, you dont need to take your plates up, the waitress/ waiter will come and add your empty plates up and give you a bill for you to take to the counter and pay. There are lots of signs regarding the price system e.g. as its all colour coded and prices start from £1.50 so you can keep an eye on what you're spending anyway.

For a first-timer, Yo Sushi's good fun and there's lots of variety including some fried chicken/ prawn dishes if you cant face the raw fish just yet! The staff are friendly and will ask if you've been before - there are always a variety of people and in fact western people normally out-number the asians!

In all you'll probably spend £15 per person but be aware that just cos they look small, with the rice and everything, it soon fills you up especially with a little pudding! Hope you enjoy it!

Yo Sushi Plate Prices

You must be refering to the conveyor belt style sushi restaurants.
Like in all western restaurants, ask the waiter/waitress for the bill and they will count and give you a bill, which you usually go to the cashier to pay. You may have to pay for the tea and towel provided.
Most of these sushi restaurants also have a menu for other ala carte items. Generally this type of sushi as highlighted by others is considered second rate. They may not be as fresh as those ala carte ones done for each order, but then you want the see what you buy first and the fun of watching and taking the items from the conveyor belt right? Usually the sushi will only go around for a limited time before they remove it before it gets not as fresh anyway.
Colour and prices of the plates are all clearly indicated so you are unlikely to get cheated.
Bring your kids or other friends kids and watch them have fun take the food enthusiatically from the conveyor belt. You also do not want to miss out the fun.
Enjoy.

I don't know how things stand where you are, but here in London, when you call for the bill, the waitress will come round and count your plates and then add it up (you don't need to take your plates to the counter).

If you live in london, you could try the wassabi hut, which is like a sushi pick and mix takeaway (though they have a few tables and chairs inside).

Most Sushi Boat Restaurants, your waiter/waitress will take care of the grand total of your meal. Each boat with different color or design has its own price. Also, he/she should give you a slip, if not, it'll be near where you're seated at. Your waiter/waitress should come by and total it up.

That's exactly how it works. Don't worry, the place was built for westerners by westerners, and Japanese generally consider it second-rate food.

My advice is to go to a real Japanese restaurant. If you do go to Yo Sushi, my advice is to swap the food around on the conveyer belt, so you only hand in the cheap plates. Either that, or take some counterfeit plates in with you.

I have never eaten there but it could work out very expensive if the prices are'nt displayed but, I think they have to display prices under the trade discrimination act.
If the prices are not displayed and you go to pay for a meal you can refuse to pay if you believe the cost to be too high as the prices are not clearly displayed.
