its is exactly the opposite. the PS2 has a larger capability for support of games, say if u have a game and a lot of things happen in a short period of time, the larger one will handle it while the smaller one will freeze up and processes it slower.

The slimmer version doesn't have a fan like the old ones, so it gets hotter faster. Other than that they are the same, but they take a different multi-tap. Hope I helped!
