This is the headline from the AP news story:
"Bush uses 9/11 to argue for Iraq war"
This is despicable, election year politicking at it's worst.
Praying on the pain and suffering of a nation still in mourning.

Colorado- Yes, I read beneath the Headlines, but as Dylan said, "You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows."
How many stories do you need to read to see the truth. All day yesterday the Whitehouse Press corps was promoting that speech as non-political. Bush and his handlers know that a Party at war wins elections. He's reminding us that we are at war! Nevermind weather we ought to be or need to be. We are at war for nothing but our own (Bushes, Oil, Haliburton) gain. Nobility has absolutely nothing to do with it.
Shiraz- At 54 I'm grown up to know when a shyster is at work. I remember Nixon and Reagan. Liars and Crooks!
And quit blaming the "liberal press" people.
I'm also old enough to know that cliches hold some truth. Where there is smoke there usually IS fire.

Jesi- Yes, there were a whole lot of others doing the same thing, but unfortunately Bush is suppose to be the "Leader Of the Free World".
There you go with the "liberal Bias". Watched Fox lately or listened to Rush or...you know it goes on and on!
Also unfortunately, you are mostly right.
As we used to say during the Viet Nam Era, "F*** It! Don't mean nothin'."

Do you think ANY political figure of EITHER political party has any reason for making any appearance any where concerning 9/11 that is not about politics. The joke... and I swear to Christmas that campaign managers for both parties say this... is that Osama couldn't have timed the attacks better.
This provides candidates and officials from both parties excellent face time just before elections.
APs headline is very inflamatory... which I'm sure that you have to acknowledge is due to their liberal, anti-Bush bias. There were a whole lot more people out there politicing yesterday as they laid wreaths and attended memorial services.
So its not Bush... its politics... and they are all out there playing that game. If you don't like it you have to change the system, changing the players won't effect the game.

Fifa,
It has nothing to do with sense. People can stick with there opinion for their whole lifes without changing them. The only thing people really need in order to survive is food and drink and making children. The followers of Bush and all the ideologies that keep Bush into power will just continue like they did before.
If you are really fed up with it, then you are welcome to migrate to my country, The Netherlands. We have an elite that excludes all the crazy fanatics, because the majority of the population want it to be that way. The main themes for the coming elections in my country are the social security and the market economy and nothing else.

I really don't get Bush at all. He either is a manipulator or is being manipulated. In either case, I consider him very lacking neurologically.

I honestly don't think it's going to work this time - many Americans consider Iraq a tangent from the war on terror, not a valid means of fighting it. So, rallying support for the Iraq war around 9/11 doesn't hold a lot of water. At least it doesn't with me.

I've gone back and studied the speech by the President. The simple fact of the matter is that you're a complete idiot. The AP story tagline is misleading, and like the Farenheight 9/11 film, you fell for it. Congratulations on being a useful idiot.
Maybe if you had listened to, or better yet read the speech, you would have caught on to the fact the war in Iraq is a minor battle in the long term war on terror. Apparently you're too "sharp" or "educated" to pick up on this... Want to buy a bridge? :)
Thanks for the points moron.

No, he doesn't. None. Bush knows his popularity is waning again, people want our troops home. He is trying to prey on the fear that alot of people still have about the possibility of terrorism. This seems to be his tool of choice: fear. The American peolpe rallied around his decisions after 9/11. We wanted justice for our fallen brothers. He's trying to rekindle support for his war again. I fully support our troops and wish them Godspeed, but Bush is just horrible!

I think the Bush regime is going to be very surprised to see that the American people are not quite as stupid as they think we are. True, they were fooled twice, but you don't have to be kicked in the head too many times before you get it , no matter how many times he trots out the same old rubbish.

That's just plain disgusting. I don't understand this man and I'm even more bewildered as to why there are still so many Americans who defend this guy. I've always believed Americans to be pretty intelligent people so I don't understand why some still follow him blindly. It makes no sense.

I'm not in morning, I'm cold to the core and W. is on his way out of the white house. His politics are old hat these days and we the people are sick of it.this B.S. in the middle east is none of our business. Let the U.N. do it's thing and if they can't handle it h**l with them! WE have more problems with in our nation than is acceptable and I for one am just disgusted with this hole war for the popular vote approach to politics. I say pull our people out of the middle east and let the towel heads fight it out for themselves. When the dust clears deal with the winners FINITO!

His speech was timed to come in the middle of a mini-series on ABC that largely blamed the 9-11 tragedy on inaction by the Clinton administration years before.
He was just explaining the war on terror, refreshing the voter's minds; he wasn't rallying them them for election day. How could you POSSIBLY think this was a "political" speech?
