First, I want to say, if it has been really haunting you and you can't let it go, how bad a person can you really be?
As for Karma, theoretically, it seems the purpose of it is to teach us, and to help us experience why our actions were wrong by having us see how it feels, to put it crudely. Well, obviously, if you are suffering this way you have already learned your lesson.
Letting go of it is really hard, I know. Is there any way you can attempt to "atone" for it?

Although I've done some things I'm not proud of....I don't think I deserve all of the things I've been going thru lately. I'm wondering if I'm receiving bad karma b/c of people I'm associated with....you know? I truly feel that I've done more GOOD than BAD in my life b/c I really do care for other people. I feel their pain as if it were my own.....does that make sense? I only want a friend....and to help them.

I haven't done anything to evil yet. But I have a sister that has always been very nasty to anyone who is overweight. Even to her own daughter when the girl was pregnaut. Right now my dear sister is sitting in a alcohol treatment center. Her roommate weighs over 300 pounds and loves to sit around naked.

Simply by repenting it.
Slowly it will go but it will also leave an impression so that you won't be doing it again.
Karma follows you if you liked doing what you did but since you are repenting it, it will not be following you and this knowledge should make you feel better and make you light hearted.

It is normal to experience guilt. We do bad things sometimes to find out consciously or unconsciously where our boundaries are. You "deal with it" by understanding the lessons you have just learned and apply them to your next challenge.

My daughter did not want to go to work so she told work that her grandmother died. Her grandmother was alive and well, 2 days later she really did die. My daughter has always felt it was her fault.
