my girlfriend can't understand why the goonies is such an 80's classic i told her that she's must be the only person i know who's over 20 who's never seen it.

It's a proper classic!
When i watched it as a kid it just made me want to go on adventures (which i did lol) and it just sums up the 80's for kids from that era...
I watched it again not so long ago and loved it just as much as i did when i was a kid... Which is rare because when you watch a film you haven't seen since childhood it's usually a disappointment... Goonies is a great classic, i would recommend it to anyone!!

P.S. it was Sloth that said 'hey you guys' not Chunk... Chunk was the kid who did the truffle shuffle at the beginning of the film : )

My girlfirend (23) had also never seen it. I couldn't believe it, so i took her to see it at a cinema that was showing it. She thought it was great. I think 'The Goonies' has something that kids films today, don't have. It doesn't treat children as idiots and actually shows them to be inventive, intelligent and adventurous. Children's film, now, cater to solely entertain. And many of them don't even do that. The Goonies is a classic. It is now sadly in an era that I personally cannot see being resurrected. Maybe kids of the 80's were happy to think and be entertained at the same time; rather than preferring to watch Eddie Murphy talk to animals.

I absolutely loved this movie. It was just so much fun to watch when I was a kid and just as much fun when I watched it again as an adult with my own kids.

Of course the movie has moments of predictability, and no, the villains aren't all that intimidating...they're actually quite moronic. But that only adds to the charm of this movie as well as its comedic value.
Although there are lessons peppered in (don't judge by appearances, right vs. wrong, etc), overall, The Goonies is a wonderful exploration of childhood friendships and imaginations...from Data and his many scientific creations to One Eyed Willy and his pirate ship.

There isn't a character in this movie I didn't fully enjoy watching. And lot of great lines come from this movie along with memorable moments (the Truffle Shuffle). I
'I Have seen The Goonies lots of times and I STILL enjoy watching it.

This is absolutely a pure, fun-filled movie to enjoy with your kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews, or simply by yourself.

Hey you GUYS!!!!

It's a total and absolute classic,
And I've got to agree, she must be the only person over 20 that hasn't seen it, you must educate her in the way of all things great and get her to watch it, she may complain at first but you just know she'll love it by the end.......

The Goonies is fantastic!

So it's not the most intelligent film ever made, but it is fun and at least it's original (unlike the rubbish remakes that get churned out nowadays).

It's also fun to watch the actors when they were young - bless!
