Because we haven't had it and we want eveything. That's just the selfish nature of being human.

My theory is that we have emotional voids, and subconsciously we are constantly trying to fill them. Rather than delve emotionally into issues, it is easier to covet stuff, or even relationships we don't have. the thought of having something elusive might represent the idea that if we had that, then we would be at a place we think is better than where we are now.

Because it's a psychological thing. We don't care so much about the things that are offered to us readily, but when we see something that we are not able to have or that is unattainable, it drives us bonkers! It's like telling a kid not to touch something. Just because you said it, they are going to really want to touch it, regardless if they really want to touch it or not. I think it is also an ego thing. Ego in the Freudian sense.

Ingratitude, discontentment, fickleness, low self esteem,
not really knowing what one wants in the first place.
I don't have that problem, thankfully but have witnessed
it too often in friends and family members.

Because, the mystique of what we cannot have is engaging. There is alot of women I wanted I know I have no chance. But it is much easier to enjoy what I have at home.

Many times what we can't have is idealized. If we got what we think we can't have, it turns out to be the same as we have.
