Hahahaha
Hypocrisy is the answer.
I have mentioned this issue since right after the final: Blatter and Platini... disappeared soon after the game was over.
What is the reason?
Simple: both of them have constantly talk-trash about Italy since before the 2006 World Cup started.
The Italian triumph have shown them they were wrong... yet they insisted with their comments about the Materazzi/Zidane episode.
The scandalous verdict about the matter was another sign of Blatter bitterness towards Italy.
Hypocrisy, pure hypocrisy.
-----> Romanis2006:
I think you make some confusion! The 2006 World Cup + medals were given to the Italians by the FIFA President Johansson.
In 2002, at the Yokohama Final, Blatter was the one showing off on the field and delivering the thophy to the Brasilians.
And that happens in any other World Cup Edition except this year: the FIFA President gives the trophy to the winners.
This year did not happen for the reasons above mentioned.

Except for 2002, all the trophies were presented by the ruler of the host country. (Except that Al Gore stood in for Clinton in 1994).
I think it is appropriate for the German President to present the trophy.
Hopefully we'll get Mandela (although he's no longer President) to present the trophy in 2010.
Hang in there Nelson.
But 2002 was a special case where we had 2 hosts, so to ask the Japanese Empreror to present the trophy would be seen as an insult to the South Koreans, or vice-versa. (the Japs and Koreans have this rivalry greater than even this silly French-Italian thing here).

He probably didn't know where it was. If you had been there, you would have seen that the "dignitaries" were all standing around with their thumbs up their rears waiting for someone to finally do something. It was embarrassing, but not altogether surprising coinsidering FIFA's incompetence.

because it was an italian victory...so only italian should be celebrating..moreover..i think he is brazilian or french...if he is brazilian he will be sad because his team got knocked out from round 8 ..and if he is french..he is sad because his team lost the final.....if you were in his place you would have done the same

Because he's french (from Switzerland) and he felt shame for what Zidane did.
Blatter's behaviour is really to blame, he should be fired and let a new one get his place because I cant stand favoritism.
