The sucess of videogames has increased dramatically in the past 10 years and has now become as mainstream and music and television in less time than either. Why do you think they are so popular and how do you see this evolve in the next 10 years.

I have always been a die-hard gamer, from Atari to today. I think the graphic capabilities and epic storylines of a lot of recent games has made this industry SO HUGE! I am a programming major, and I plan on also taking graphic design. Hopefully, someday I'll be making games you all will play! I'd say in the next 10 years, this industry will only get larger and more competitive!
Also, gaming is a great escape, isn't it?

Its Very Entertaining, When I Don't Have Anything Do You I Just Hop On My PC Or PS2 And Kill Time, Videos Games Have Become So Popular Now A Days Because Technology Had Advance So Much This Decade. Graphics, AI, The Internet. This Generation Is All About Technology, Ten Years Ago Nobody Would Of Thought That A 15 Year Old Would Know Much About Technology, Cant Say The Same Now A Days. But Sadly Most People Have Forgotten That There Is An Outside World, lol, People Are Loosing Social Skills, Staying Home For Days At End.

Video games are sucessful as they relieve stress that were experience during the day.
Stress "like the gossip about you by the water cooler" dissipates immediately when You become your game avatar.
Good games are fun to play and relieve stress.A lot of great ideas that are previously ignored by boss found their relief in god games where player makes decision. Hopefully there will be games that instills proper values that are fun to play too. Some Japanese RPG games instills the ideal of heroism and self sacrifice for the common good and antiwar message. I must add the Japanese did a very good job at that too.

Video games take people away from everyday life.
When you are playing a game, you forget all about the stresses that life comes with and you get caught up in the fantasy world of your game.
It is a nice excape and very addicting.

I think that they are so popular because unlike television, children get to interact with it, through the controller.
