For example, @ yahoo scroll to the bottom u see copyright 2006. What does the year stand for? Why do some sites show copyright 2002? Does it mean when the site was last updated or what?

copyright symbol tells that, it has been produced n generated by a particular company or an organisation or a product released by a particular domain..... specifying that al the rights r reserved for that n liable for the same organisation...... if anyone copies this or tries to modify this without the permission frm da company or organisation.... then it is considered as crime n evn a case will be enrolled on them.....

so, u dont try to such kind of things... itz illegal dude....

The copyright is a statement of a law. The copyright law. In a nutshell it says that you have certain rights, as in other people can not use what you publish without your permission.

By putting the copyright on the document they are making sure you were informed that this is something that they have copyrights for.

It means that it was produced and published by that company in that year. It has been registered and is the intellectual property of that company.

To reproduce it without permission would be a breach of copyright. Especially if you plan to make profit from it.

The one on Yahoo would represent the format of the page and programming for yahoo answers
