This could become a loooong story, but I try to make it short:
Concerning work, Canada is a (hmmmm, let's say) "unusual" place. No matter what your educational background is, which country (other than USA) you come from, how many years of successful experience you have..... You start from the bottom as an immigrant. They call it "...you need Canadian experience..."!
Even medical doctors are not allowed to practice straight-away.
There are only very few exceptions, like you have a "cute English accent" and you work on TV / Radio....
So, don't go to Canada "just for a job", go there if you love the place, and yes, it does have a lot of advantages, too....

As a Canadian I will add that not only do people from other countries start at the bottom - Canadians do too! Regardless of your profession there is always someone with more experience. What I have found is that once I have my foot in the door how far I go from there is up to me!
