It is normal for the doctors not to induce until at least a week after the due date unless there are complications. It is safe for a normal pregnancy.

I am glad you have a healthy baby, but I am sorry he/she is so big for you to deliver. My friend had an 11 pounds child vaginally that had no problems. If there are any complications during labor, or even if they think there will be, they will give you a c-section!
good luck.

How did they determine that the baby is 9 lbs? Sometimes they are wrong on the weight. Usually if they did an ultrasound, theý'll know the weight but other methods aren't reliable. I was induced a week after my due date with each of my children. I had an 8lb. 12 oz girl and a 9 lb. 5 oz. boy - both vaginally. My son's clavicle broke coming out but it has healed fine. My son also had low blood sugar when he was born which is common with babies who are over 9 lbs. They gave him formula (which I wasn't thrilled about because I was breastfeeding) because they said that formula was the best thing to get him back to normal blood sugar ranges. It worked and he nursed fine after that. My healing after my son's birth was actually easier/less pain than from my daughter's birth. I think you need to trust what your doctor says as far as induction.

The weight of the baby could be way off. When I had the last ultrasound before my daughter was born, they told me she was going to be a big baby 8.5 pounds or so and it turned out she was only 7.4 pounds. So dont panic. Your dr. will probably induce you in a week if you dont go into labor before then.

The weight of the babies usually not accurate just an estimated idea. I would wait another week.

selvi its your choice its your body and your baby. Contact your midwife for any advice she may have.

Oh and I know someone who pushed out a 4kg baby naturally, not a tear or a stitch. Good luck.
