The kind of vegetation found in a particular region, depends on its climatic conditions. The plants try to adapt themselves to the climatic conditions of a region. And the species that fail to adapt to these conditions gradually die outta that region.

Like, say in mountaneous regions where theres a lotta snowfall, the plants adapt themselves for having needle shaped leaves so that the ice does not deposit on them. Similarly, the plants in desert regions also have needle shaped leaves to minimise transpiration and the stem has adapted itself to perform the function of the leaves.

Vegetation is a result of evolution in plants.......therefore it cannot develop or be grown in these regions successfully as the climatic conditions dont match with the climatic demands of good vegetaion. So basically, the vegetatin adapts itself to the region's climatic conditions.

Secondly, the climatic conditions also determine the soil cover of a perticular region. This is a slow process which takes millions of years. Vegetation basically requires a good and fertile soil cover. Climate affects the soil cover of any region and therefore affects the vegetation.

Moreover you will see that as the climatic conditions of a region change gradually, its vegetation also adapts itself accordingly. Many a times, often resulting in wiping out of certain species from that region.

Vegetation act as pump to pull water from soil, utilize it and releases to atmosphere as vapor. This process is known as Evapotranspiration (ET) and has much influences on the climate.
