a guy
if a guy has a best girl friend there could well be issues with partners and boundaries
i think its great for a guy to have female friends but the space of best friend is less hassle if its a guy

i know that might seem old fashioned but some things dont change

I think both are the ideal bestfriends a guy can understand guy things and a girl is the best person to understand girls because believe it or not you will try to understand us someday both are really cool.

My best friend is a guy. Unfortunately, I couldn't go to his wedding because of this stupid freaking company I work for- but he understood as did his (now) wife. I felt really bad about it because I was going to sing a song I wrote for them so all I could do was give them a copy of it on CD.
I suppose having a guy or girl for a best friend doesn't matter as long as there's a closeness and bond formed with a high level of tolerance for each others shortcoming and mistakes and of coarse complete trust.

Have a great day!!!

Hi. I have a guy as a best friend and I have a girl as a best friend. Each are very good people and we all have different things in common. Each are different and both bring very special things into my life. They are special people. They both bring different good things, as friends, into our friendship. They like me even if I make a mistake. We can talk about things even if we disagree and go on.

To me a best friend is someone who Will always be there for you. Someone who will always listen. It doesn't have to be a guy or a girl as long as they accept you for you, and do not judge. They give their advice as needed, good or bad. Someone who will drop anything just to let you cry on their shoulder, etc....

You can have more than one best friend :).

I don't know how it works for other people so I'll just tell you from personal experience. My best friends are 2 guys and a girl. So in total it's 4 of us, 2 guys/2 girls. All for we are INSEPARABLE yet depending on the advice I need I'll either talk to all of them or go to the boys or ask my girlfriend. So I think you need both. As far as they are honest and sincere like mine are!

there is no 'ideal' anything. if u click witha guy or a girl it doesnt matter. just enjoy the friendship. i think thereare somethings that are easier to talk to a guy with than a girl and vice versa.

Well, if it's a single guy, I would say a girl....because she can advise him on other girls, and help him along with being more then a stupid jock, but a married man should have other married men friends, so he can blow off steam safely.
