I need to lower the ride height of my 06' Yamaha WR250.?

I was considering adjustable linkage, or I thought smaller tires so I dont have to give up a bigger bike frame to a 125 which is too small.

This might be enough, try it first. If you're still looking for more, then you'll have to have the forks rebuilt with a different shim stack - have the front lowered to match the rear for the best handling.

This will get you at least 2" of difference un-sprung. Because the different rear linkage also softens the shock stroke, it will lower your ride height even more.

Cutting some seat foam can lower the bike even more, but if you do more sitting than standing, it can make for an uncomfortable ride. If you do choose to do this, get a gel insert and put it in place of the foam that was removed. It will help the seat soak up more vibration - rather than transfer it to your seat!

I'm 5'4", and I've done the suspension mods to every off-road bike I've owned, from XR250's to YZF's, to KTM's. It's worked very well on all of them. I've never had to resort to cutting the seat foam, but I have a friend who's a few inches shorter than me, and she does the suspension lowering, plus the seat foam cut.

The only way to lower a bike is, as you say, to adjust it at the linkage. Bear in mind that will lower the back so you need to alter the forks as well, otherwise the geometry of the bike is changed - which could make for an unpleasant ride.

Alternatively, if the bike is only a couple of inches too tall, get the seat cut down and re-covered.
