SMokers, why smoke?
Yes, that is a good question. Here is some info and some answers.
SOme smokers do this dirty habit due to an addiction.
I call it dirty because long-term smokers actually "smell" . They have this strong odor of dirty smoke , yes, similar to a dirty ashtray when it's wet. The problem is, most people are TOO embarrassed and too polite to tell the smokers that.
So, smokers go on smelling like smoke and no one tells them that they smell. After all, it's not nice to say to people ..YOU SMELL! ..
If you ask most smokers, if someone told them they smell , they will tell you NO, no one has ever mentioned it to me. So, they think that when you tell them,it's your imagination..and that they don't really smell.
But, trust me, they do. Someone who smokes 2 packs a day for ten or more years, does develop a horrible smell to them. You can smell them about six feet away.
I know this because someone I know smokes like this and I can smell the smoke at least six feet away from the person. They smoke about two packs a day for years and years.
If you are a long-term heavy-duty smoker and you think that you don't smell, you are mistaken and misinformed.
Your friends and family are just too polite to mention it to you. Plus they don't want you to yell at them when they tell you so, they just accept your smell.
How do you know if you smell like smoke or like an ashtray? Well, notice this.. how many people really come close to you and stay close to you when they are talking with you?
If you are at work and you are the boss, are people politely backing away from you?
If so, your smoke might be the problem. Well, after all, who has the courage to tell the boss that they smell like smoke?
Perhaps his wife might tell him but then, all he will say is that "nobody ever mentions that he smells" .
Trust me, if you smoke long-term, over years. you smell like a dirty wet ashtray..
So there, you've been told--if you are that kind of a smoker.
Ocasional smokers don't usually smell like that . but they are doing their health a disservice anyways.
Smoking leads to cancer and so does PASSIVE SMOKING. So if you are near a smoker, move away from their smoke. YOu don't want to get their cancers or diseases.
Smokers have clothing that smells like smoke.
Smokers teeth (long-term smokers) are usually decayed and broken and chipped , and sometimes yellow.
Serious smokers sometimes have YELLOW fingers ..from where they hold their cigarettes. I once knew a priest whose TWO fingers were yellow just from holding the cigarettes for years and years and years..
There is NOTHING good about smoking. It makes you choke, it makes breathing hard. And it smells. It makes people want to go away from you.
If you looking to meet someone --romantically, smoking limits your chances because Non-smokers will not be with smokers.
There are other reasons why smoking is not good for you or for anybody. Most times..smokers babies or children...get LOTS of unnecessary ear infections and colds from the smokers' passive smoke.
There are other smokers who have actually killed people due to their smoking. How many times have you seen on the news that someone has FALLEN ASLEEP while smoking. People die. they die and the people in their rooms and building die or get serious smoke-related injuries if they do survive.
SMOKING COSTS BILLIONS:
The cigarettes are outrageously priced. IN my city they are now at SEVEN DOLLARS A PACK, heck who can afford that?
ANd then the financial debts that come from smoking continue and continue.. smokers who are on welfare or on disability are costing the city and the government and US, millions of dollars in health-care benefits when they are sent to hospitals with asthma and smoke-related diseases and with cancer.
SMOKING Causes cancer.
SO imagine the expense of treating someone with cancer?
Smoking causes it all.
So, after examining smoking, and it's negative effects on us and on society, WHY SMOKE?
There are a million reasons why human beings shouldn't smoke, and these are only some of them.
IF you don't smoke, don't start.. and i f you are with a smoker, if you haven't married them yet, don't get more involved in that kind of relationship. It will only lead to illness and heartbreak and lots of hospital bills.
If you must be suicidal and smoke, PLEASE consider others like your family and your friends and your children..and keep your passive DANGEROUS smoke away from them. Smoke outdoors where you are not near anyone.
SMOKING SEPARATES people and families.
Smokers now usually have to smoke outdoors, and this cuts down on the work effort. While people are outdoors smoking, others, non-smokers are indoors working and doing the smoker's jobs.
Smoking interferes with work and play.
Smoking makes clothing yellow and smelly and sometimes inconsiderate smokers make holes in clothing because they are careless with their cigarettes.
Smoking causes burns, when people drop their cigarettes.and they DO drop their cigarettes.
If you already have asthma and you smoke, that smoke interferes with your asthma treatment and recovery.
I've actually seen a smoker DOWNSTAIRS from a hospital , while he was still attached to an Intravenious bag. while he was smoking a cigarette Under a NO SMOKING SIGN.. now ..how sick is that?
Smoking causes explosions. Smokers have smoked near oxygen tanks and in places where smoke is not allowed and they have exploded things because they ignited things that are explosive.
SMOKING takes good money away from food, entertainment, beverages, schools, household goods, medical treatments, and all the rest of life. The money that people pay for cigarettes is literally thrown IN THE GARBAGE as the smoke puffs from their mouths and lungs.
SMOKING CAUSES LUNG and other types of cancer. Smoking deprives the blood of oxygen and every one needs oxygen to live and to breathe. WHen smokers smoke, that means every organ that needs oxygen is being deprived of oxygen by that persons smoke.
EVERY blood cell is being deprived of oxygen. Every cell in a smokers body is being deprived of oxygen and good health.
SMOKERS COUGH AND SPIT MUCOUS Up every single morning. Have you ever heard that constant smokers cough? and watch the smokers spit into their handkerchiefs or tissues? Is it any wonder why smoking is not attractive besides being dangerous ?
You'll see peopl e SPIT on public sidewalks because they are usually SMOKERS ..Their bodies can't take the smoke and it causes them to SPIT constantly .
NORMAL people --non-smokers do not have to spit. If you are spitting up a lot and spitting mucous.it's probably because you are getting too much PASSIVE smoke from other people. Are there smokers around you at work or play? Then you are spitting, correct?
SMOKERS SPIT, SMELL, SEt fires, and do other negative things .
IF this writing was too offensive to you....well..Your smoking is too offensive to me...so we are even , correct?
SOrry to offend. but SOMEONE had to tell you..correct?

i also wanted to add this article below that might help to understand how dangerous it is
**********************************************************************
Tobacco use kills nearly half a million Americans each year, with one in every six U.S. deaths the result of smoking. Smoking harms nearly every organ of the body, causing many diseases and compromising smokers’ health in general. Nicotine, a component of tobacco, is the primary reason that tobacco is addictive, although cigarette smoke contains many other dangerous chemicals, including tar, carbon monoxide, acetaldehyde, nitrosamines, and more.
An improved overall understanding of addiction and of nicotine as an addictive drug has been instrumental in developing medications and behavioral treatments for tobacco addiction. For example, the nicotine patch and gum, now readily available at drugstores and supermarkets nationwide, have proven effective for smoking cessation when combined with behavioral therapy.
Advanced neuroimaging technologies further assist this mission by allowing researchers to observe changes in brain function that result from smoking tobacco. Researchers have also identified new roles for genes that predispose people to tobacco addiction and predict their response to smoking cessation treatments. These findings—and many other recent research accomplishments—are affording us unique opportunities to discover, develop, and disseminate new treatments for tobacco addiction, as well as scientifically based prevention programs to help curtail the public health burden that tobacco use represents.
We hope this Research Report, summarizing the latest scientific information about tobacco addiction, will help readers understand its harmful effects as well as identify best practices for its prevention and treatment.

They start smoking due to the influence of the surroundings but once they do, they become addicted and whenever the level of nicotine in the blood goes down they get the urge to smoke again. This level of nicotine in blood from individual to individual depending upon their smoking habits.

Now, the stupid part of the question is you saying why continue to smoke. If it was easy to stop don't you think more people would? With regards to starting, it's quite often peer pressure, wanting to fit in etc. Usually it's younger people who start and they don't care so much about the health risks.

They just start it for fun and since nicotine is addictive in nature people will find it difficult to stop by the time they realise that it is no more fun to smoke.
