It is the work that is covered not the person. Do you know who did the work? if not can you contact the previous owners? If they used a reputable company you should get help but if it was a "friend" who did the job I think its hard luck.

You'll probably find that the system will no longer be covered by the Installer unless you have a maintenance contract with them.
Assuming the boiler was new when you moved in the boiler 'might' be still under the manufacturers warranty, but I wouldn't hold your breath. But that would only be the boiler, if the problem is with your system / radiators you probably wont have a leg to stand on
If I installed a system over two years ago and got a phone call, there would be no way I'd take responsibility for it. That would be like buying something out a shop and taking it back two years later looking for a refund!

You have 1 years guarantee. Your warranty is for 3 years, but my guess is only if it serviced regularly by a CORGI approved installer.
At the end of the day, your warranty will only cover the boiler not the system as a whole and a boiler is really only a series of copper pipes and a ceramic plate. (plus A £35 pump and a £40 controller)
I would suggest that if you are at all worried, take out a British Gas service agreement for about £15 a month.
I would say that you probably have 3-5 years of hassle free heating (before it needs a "re-tune") but would recommend you get it tested every year to keep it in tip top efficiency standard.

A 3 year guarantee is a 3 year guarantee whoever owns the item guaranteed. The fact that the 'item' guaranteed has changed hands should make no difference whatsoever!...But, you need to get hold of any documents referring to such agreement, ie; your guarantee note. As suggested, contact previous owners for any infomation they can give you.

It is more than likely that the original guarantee was for one year. Rarely are they any longer unless its is bought. You could be protected under the Sale of Goods Act for any period depending on the goods, normally five years. This can be checked with your local.Office of Fair Trading.

Yes you are, but you may need to provide the original receipt or invoice to make your claim. Speak to the previous owner if you don't have the invoice and try to get it.
