Is life really just about making goals and reaching them, or is there a reason to our being? When an animal goes to hunt, isn't that reaching a goal, doesn't a stream flowing down a mountain into a pond or ocean reach it's goal?... Is there more to life or can we just do anything and say we are alive and there is a point to us being here? Where is the starting point to know if I, as a person, am here for a purpose? And to what purpose is that and how do I find it?

Either YOU find a purpose or you go crazy or you end up as dog food. Since humans have muscled their way to the top of the food chain and mostly only have to worry about each other it has fallen to humans to find or establish a reason for being. In truth in a land of seemingly plenty one can simply exist. Many people settle into a level of competence & reward and do simply that and little else. There is no reason for any of us 'being' except that two people did the bump & grind and a sperm cell managed to overcome all odds to impregnate an egg. One has their Birth as a starting point - - - they can reinvent their life many times after that - - - they can work toward lofty goals and settle for manageable goals or settle for manageable goals and luck out and snag something more wonderful, more meaningful. Luck can seek a person out and set them on a path to greatness. Or a person may simply settle into a grim existence of scrounging meals from garbage cans till the day they die. It doesn't get more glamorous than that. Perhaps you need to stop beating yourself up over 'what purpose' that you serve, and simply work toward an obtainable goal such as schol or a certain job and let IT find you. Great Minds Tell me IT is out there - - - are you there to receive or out in the wilderness banging your head on a rock in frustration. Try to simply Be - - - and be at Peace.

You have to live the life to find the purpose. The animal will have to hunt over and over again. a stream f;owing down a mountain constantly renews itself and many will have been refreshed by its waters.'

We can set ourselves goals and achieve them - that is one kind of purpose.

The real meaning of life is in living; hopefully touching many other lives in a positive way, though we give and receive meaning from all with whom we come in contact. We all live quietly desperate lives and in the words of Walt Whitman: "After all our striving
we arrive where we started and see the place for the first time."
