Yes.As the word itself signifies, Materialism is a philosophical system which regards matter as the only reality in the world, which undertakes to explain every event in the universe as resulting from the conditions and activity of matter, and which thus denies the existence of God and the soul. It is diametrically opposed to Spiritualism and Idealism, which, in so far as they are one-sided and exclusive, declare that everything in the world is spiritual, and that the world and even matter itself are mere conceptions or ideas in the thinking subject. Materialism is older than Spiritualism, if we regard the development of philosophy as beginning in Greece.

To narrow down "the evil of our age" to something economic is a bit ludicrous when you look at the atrocities acted out upon our fellow man everyday in political prisons all over the world...just to name one manifestation of evil.
If by implication the "evil" of materialism is a roundabout way to denegrate the U.S. capitalistic system, that's ridiculous. However, materialism would be what I would call a logical unchecked step beyond capitalism, if handled irresponsibly.

There are some problems with this question. you do not look to understand a lot about New Age and also you look to imagine that similarity implies causation. that's a touch some distance fetched with out some evidence in case you imagine about it. I be conscious your remark obviously with regard to the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ as being a Roman deity. it is fantastically offensive to Christians.

No. Idealism does. Materialists do not fly airplanes into buildings, idealists do.
