Yes, it usually takes 6 months to release on DVD after it leaves the theaters. However, if the movie does poor at the box office, the production studio wants to try to make up for their loss by bringing the movie out to DVD right away.

Yes, because the producers want to sell more movie tickets before the DVD. on the other hand, if the movie is a flip, they'll try their luck with DVD so they release DVD early.
