A manufacturer and model would be very helpful. Did the thing come without any instructions? Most product manuals can be found with the help of Google and a little patience.

For most mp3 players, you going to want to rip CD's with some kind of media player (Windows Media Player, iTunes, etc.). RIPPING is getting the music from your CD to you computer.

After that you will need to SYNC or at least open up your mp3 with your computer and drag songs in there. After connecting you mp3 player to your computer with a USB cable, you may be able to find it in My Computer.

Again, first Google the name of your player and see if you can find help on the manufacturer's site. If not, come back here with a make and model and we'll see what we can do for you.

You need software on the computer to communicate with the mp3 player. Without that software the player is useless.

Usually that kind of devices have with'em CD's with supporting programs which allow to do all operations described by you. Install it, and try to use that program's HELP menu if you have any question.
Or be more precise and tell me the manufacturer and the model of your player.
