arent you thinking of peter davison and it was called distant shores and his wife was tempted by an affair and his daughter was a goth and davison as usual was frantic about everything

it would help if you'd give more info... like when did this series play and what was it about?

Anyways, further search has made me believe you mean "Neville's Island", but that's a TV movie, and not a series, as far as I can tell.

That one would be Doc Martin and the village it was set in is Port Issac in Cornwall
