Dude - if you're American, why the f**k do you care? Trust me, they're going to hate you, regardless.

People have hated this country for decades - for its wealth, for it's freedoms to attain that wealth and because of a mindset that ensures that Americans usually come first.
It is for this reason, and not some nonsensical notion of 'American foreign policy' that 9/11 happened.

Which is the reason you're asking this question in the first place.

What is a country? Just some lines in the dirt? A group of people? A system of government? An ideology?

Your assumption is that most people in the world dislike america. That's a very untrue assumption. Secondly you're saying "America" as opposed to "American policy", "American People", or "American ideology and influence". Three very different things. There are many people that love 2 of em and hate a third.

As for the people that dislike America, why do they...

The Arab countries don't like America's aliance with Israel (the'd prefer to have a second Holocast). Cuba, China, N. Korea, Iraq, Iran don't like America because they are viewed as hostile countries and a threat to america.

America does have aggresive foreign policy and it is the worlds only super power. It's always in the spotlight and is an easy target. e.g. How has Uruguay made the world better? worse? I'm sure it's done some of each but none of us know or care.

America takes a lot of flack for being the "World's Police", however how many people were complaining about that in about 1943? America gets criticized when it gets involved with other affairs (e.g. Somalia) and criticized when it does nothing (e.g. Roanda). So therea are some people that will hate it if the americans get involved and others that will hate em if they don't. How is it possible to be a "popular" country in that type of situation.

Switzerland, Canada, Luxemborge, Monacco, etc are very "popluar" and "politically correct" countries. However, if everyone were like them we'd all be blonde haired, blue eyed, german speaking nazis.

There are a lot of greedy, nasty, power-hungry people in the world. Vietnam was not popular, however the soviets were trying to conquer the world at that time. As were the Germans. Given the opportunity Saadam would have as well. Iran and China are possibilities. There were 2 very real and threatening attempts in just the last 70 years.

It's a good thing that someone is willing to step up, take a stand, and do what is right.

I, as not-American, dislike your president and his supporters where ever they may be. Not because he shouldn't have invaded iraq or whatever but because his motif is so obviously greed and he's a blatant liar.
People like this always exist. problem is: since 9/11 americans swallow any lie they hear as long as they get the promises that it serves the war on terror. al quida in iraq!? on what planet has mr bush been living the last years? womd? sure thing. EVERY country can build them. heck, even i can build them in my backyard. where's the news? where's the reason? go and invade china for humanitarin reasons mr. bush! hahah.

so: no i don't dislike americans in general. they have been the role model for democracy for a far long time.

Because of the President and his actions, but many people don't see the difference , between the country and the president they just see America so they plan to strike America period. But America will never fall at the hands of cowards, we lead our Army head on into a Battle, on open field while the enemy hides in with the crowd behind women and children

Its mostly the president. I was born in Iran and went back last summer. After people found out that I was a US citizen they would go crazy. people like the American people but not the president dispute what is shown on TV. Americans believe the whole middle east hate American people, and its not true. don't believe in everything that it on TV or news.

yes I agree some dislike America because they find America as their opponent..

yes I agree some dislike America as they find the ppl of america harmful to them..

Yes I agree some dislike america because they dislike Bush administration..

Yes there may be so many reasons to say...but never whole the ppl of the world dislike America (that is too an extent of generalisation, that should not be the way of reasoning)

Anyway..I could say..There are good people among every races and in every part of the world..

This is such a complex question and is very open to possiblity. I believe that why people of the world see things from the outside: our greed, our nack for helping others besides ourselves (Katrina for example- how we jumped out of our boots to help ppl suffering from the Tsunami but when it came time to aid small newborns who just needed escape from heat, and lack of food, we couldnt meet their needs as well as many others), our ignorant decisions as a whole (not just the president), and our lack of motivation to change this world with our enourmous power. Sorry bout the opened can of worms lol.

i think it is both, we are always hearing on the tv that the U.S don't others to have WMD but the U.S has a huge supply of WMD so i can understand why a country like iran would want to tell the U.S to go to hell. You don't tell someone that they are wrong in there actions when you are doing the same thing and the U.S needs to wake up and realize this.

both I think....cause they think the US is a bully and wants the oil. After all oil is his investment.<=bush
EVEN though i like him i just think he has done a good job on war...cause the last time a president wanted peace in Iran.Iran hostage's the US embassy for more than a year.So i don't blame him for war.I blame him for the abusing his power of military forces.

The presidents change every few years, but people have hated America forever so.....I think they hate it because of America's philosophy, ideology and practices (which of course are upheld by the Prez.)
