If you think you can just "stop being gay", you're NOT gay. Rephrase that question....."I'm heterosexual but my family treats me bad for it. Should I stop being heterosexual?" Does that sound ridiculous? It should. If you're gay, you're gay. You can only pretend to be heterosexual.

Well I guess you could give up on your gay lifestyle, you could stop meeting gay people, you pretend that you were not gay, in short you could suppress your entire sexuality, but would you feel any better. If you tried to do that you wouldn't really stop being gay, you would just push your gayness under the surface. You would end up having sex with men in public toilets, .... you would become bitter and frustrated. And when your parents died you would eventually come out and find yourself without any real friends and in no position to build up a new life for yourself. You might even kill yourself.
Is that what you really want? In that case go ahead, go back into the closet and throw away the key.
Sorry man it's your life not their's. Perhaps you should move to a different area for a while until they come to terms with the fact that their son is gay.

How can you stop being gay?? If you are a gay, you are a gay. There is nothing you or anybody else can do about it. Your family needs to accept you for the way you are. Besides, there is nothing wrong with being gay. It is a 21st century for goodness sake!

You have asked this question before. You want someone to tell you it does not matter what they think. It does, and you know it does. They believe you are not doing the plan of God Almighty for yourself. That maybe one day you will see and understand this. Many people do not do the plan of God Almighty when they are young and later in life find that they have realized it as well. It is a powers and principals thing. You have caused yourself to allow doing the homosexuality. This is a choice you have decided to do. You often gravel with it. You would rather it never happened in fact.

The fact is you was very young when you made this choice. You do not even remember when you made the choice. You may never remember the first time you became attracted to the same gender as you. If you could ask for help before in the name of Jesus Christ, you can ask again. Even over and over again. It can take many years to help oneself from allowing the temptation that allows yourself too fall back into old habits you have formed.

I would bet your parents are praying for you as well.

I'm straight and I probably shouldn't even be in this area, LGBT. Something caught my eye and one thing simply led to another.

Any-way.... I presume you're 20 or so. Young by my standards but aged enough to make your own choices. If you feel you're gay then, simply put, it's your family that needs to live without you. Move out.

Should you stop being gay? Let me ask this; Can you? Only YOU know the answer to that one!

everyone seems to be yelling at you, not only in your life, but in the responses to your question as well...and that makes me sad. You can't just stop being gay, but you can go back in the closet...pretending you're someone you aren't. I used to be in the same situation. I came out in High School and my parents pulled me out of school, my dad hit me a lot (he's a minister, how godly of him), they took everything out of my room except the mattress to my bed and my alarm clock, put me through ex-gay therapy, and then we moved to a different state so i could "start over." I didn't turn straight again, but i did go back into the closet untill i made it to college and got my own place. I came out to a very select few people in HS because i wanted to be myself but not have it get back around to my parents so i wouldn't have to go though all that again. So no, don't stop being gay, but if you feel the need to hide if from them long enough for you to get out...then do it. Good luck...

Do you truly think that you can go out there and stop being gay? There is something wrong with this question. If you are REALLY gay, then, it's your family who should stop treating you badly, and welcome you as the person you are.

No, u shouldn't. Be who you are and be happy for who you are. You're the one who's living your life and not them. If your family doesn't accept you, I suggest bring them pamphlets or brochures from PFLAG or let them attend meetings w/ other parents or families who have gay children. Hopefully, that'll enlighten their understanding of the Lez/Gay community. If they still treat u bad, I suggest, go to another city or state, far away from them, ie, if u can afford it. Good luck and hope this helped.

That's because they didn't approve you for being gay. They must be really sad. Well if you can..try to stop of being gay. I know it's not easy but you have to try. Being gay is not getting you anywhere. I'm sure you want to have your own generation in the future and gay will not help. Get your family to help you on this. All the best!

If you can honestly turn it off, then you arent Gay. It makes the rest of the people who actually are gay look bad. Because they dont choose to be gay. Why would anyone choose to be ridiculed and harassed and be treated like a lower class citizen? They wouldnt so please be gay if your gay and if your not stop saying stupid ****.
