Well, I can stop using it for a period of time but I don't think I can live without it.

What is an essential to you? Internet may be easily denied, and doing so might give you some insight about your dependancies. Oh, I am not at all perfect and love playing around on the 'net - I've been here since it was Darpanet (OK, I'm an old Fed). But look at what you accomplish as opposed to the time spent. Do you see any return on your time - maybe better than TV, but is it as satisfying as talking to someone face to face? I confess that I have helped put in place the routers and switches that helped to perpetuate the 'net. And I am on it every day. Blackberry access at the minimum. Away from home and my servers I feel like any moment a disaster is imminent. THIS IS SICK THINKING...!
You can certainly live without it. Better yet - turn off the electricity in your home (I'm a grandpa, and dad, and have done this to prove a point). Try it for 6 hours - say, after supper is cooked, and it is 3 hours to dark, and sleep. How long can you stand it?

If internet was never invented then yes, but that'll just make everyone move more slower than expected.

If you have no choice to choose for your life for your future or the life of internet then yes, too much exposure to internet gives a big friggin' headache.

If suddenly the world goes to total panick because of an unknown virus causing more than half of the internet to malfunction and corrupt then yes, because since i cannot get what i need from internet, guess i have to spare with the ones i just have...

If everything or mostly can be done by internet, then no... ahh, technology, can't get most of it, can't get enough of it...

Noooooooo ... I rely on it too much to do research for work and to stay in touch with my office and friends. It saves me many trips to the office afterhours and when I just don't feel like leaving the house; I submit my work through e-mail.
